This is silly... I can understand if someone died in the fire, but STUFFS?.?.? They're just stuffs people, there's nothing horrifying nor shocking about it... so the fire burned down stuffs, OH WELL... no one is hurt, MOVE ON... so dramatic over material... (sigh) pathetic.
@pacificrules I know what you mean, but some of the furniture were paintings from Rembrandt and inreplacable books and documents. If my house was on fire; I would try to get my most value stuff out of it
@PokeworksStudios if you want to risk your life (severe burns, smoke inhalation, dying, died, etc.) over STUFFS, have at it... ANY stuffs can always be replaced (old or new), but your life is irreplacable as you only live once.
@pacificrules you're right, but they aren't just some paintings. the painting were from Rembrandt. But still, I do care much more about a person than a freaking carpet or book :)
I am devastated watching this and I am German. I was too young to understand it when it happened but Britain can be so proud to have such a wonderful castle that is still in use. I've visited it since and it's one of the most beautiful castles I've ever seen. From the 9th century! That is so amazing and how terrible it would have been if it's history had ended in our days. If I was British I would be proud to contribute with my taxes to this. Can't wait to be back one day!
Who cares whether the Queen is rich or not, or whether she could afford to pay for it - i'm bloody glad that my taxes went on restoring part of our heritage and history, they're the two of the things that make Britain such a great country. It's better than my hard earned money going toward the lesbian one legged dog society or the other stupid crap taxes pay for.
i was a fireman at the time. i was called out to this. we arrived some time after the first appliances arrived. im at 0:40 on the snorkel ladder and again at 1:17
prince andrew turned out and he talked to us for a while. he was upset about the fire but he said part of the art that was ruined he didnt like anyway. we took out what we could before the fire reached them. he was very concerned about his xbox, but it was no use due to smoke damage. he later came back with bacon sandwiches for us.
Once upon a time there was a vile horrid old Witch named camilla Although she was despicable and pox riddled having been a wicked low class prostitute since a girl she cast a spell on the idiot inbred adulterous Prince Charles who destroyed his marriage to the beautiful Princess Diana who actually had more Royal blood in her veins than Charles. The evil camilla manipulated the idiot prince along with his sycophants thinking he would reign but in fact they will soon be eradicated and BURN IN HELL
what goes around, comes around... and rolls up too.
the chiefs line at the end SUMMED it all UP...
"... its quite natural for those fires to vent themselves thru the roof, and that's what you're seiing behind me know.

it was a great lose for the queen and court but im sure lords of london made it all right again... and a premium increase for their troubles... it must be hell being disgustingly rich.
How can we say that this Castle belongs to us, if we didn't pay for it! The Queen did! Secondly, her ancestors build this Castle! And now it's shame that our Mr. Stupid Borwn is not paying for the Buckingham Palace!...
President Sarkozy of France lives in luxury at the Elys' Palace, the upkeep of which is financed by his government. The President of USA doesn't have to go cap in hand when the White House needs redecorating. It is paid for by the people, who take great pride in their national monument, which is how it should be.
...if we didn't pay for it! The Queen did! Secondly, her ancestors build this Castle!"
Your ancestors built it for them and payed for by the taxes your ancestors had to pay or else.
why shouldn't one of the richest humans ever to walk the earth have to pay for thier luxuries? the daily interest from their holdings will cover it... maybe two days...
Hey, If those Tamil blacks start swarming around Europe (again) now there screwed, I can well see island albinos getting totally fucked up with Mercury metals - and bearing spastic kids.
i was there i remember it so well... i can remember laughing and the best part about it i was on the ten oclock news... shame it never burnt to the ground xxxx
The British taxpayers paid for none of the restoration of Windsor Castle despite the castle's extraordinary significance to the history of the nation. The great restoration was entirely funded by private donations and the rebuilding effort led by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who has been Ranger of Windsor Great Park for more than fifty years. The result was precise and splendid much luck HRH himself
Whether or not one is anti or pro monarch Windsor Castle is part of British heritage. As such you would think that the nation would be devastated by such a loss. Heck, I'm not even British and this up set me when it happened, and I was only 9.

Whatever your views to the Monarchy, have a bit of respect. The staff and residents (not necessarily Royalty) along with the firefighters were in all lucky to escape unhurt.
this is so sad, it is a beautiful castle, it is sad that this history is lost .

@ianupton He was concerned about his Xbox? In 1992? Must have been a pre-release version, given it didn't go on sale for another 9 years.

Poor Queen having to be displaced from Windsor Castle only to have to rough it in one of her other umpteen castles. Shameful, the poor dear.
