A woman texting while driving her Mini at over 100mph on the M4 crashed into the back of our car last year, and she has been done for dangerous driving - we were in physiotherapy for four months and luckily our claim should be settled soon. The woman who crashed into us also destroyed the centre reservation barrier and spun us across the carriageway, we were so lucky it was late at night otherwise if we'd have been spun into oncoming cars, trucks, etc, we would not be here right now.
I ride a bicycle around town and can see into cars as we pass each other. I'm amazed at how many folks are texting while driving. It is scary. I have tried it, briefly, myself, and nobody will convince me that one can be aware of their surroundings, the traffic, pedestrians, etc., while texting at the wheel.
Honestly I feel like the majority of my generation (I'm 17) understands that it is wrong. We grew up around cell phones and for the most part are a lot better about using them. I see a lot more adults texting while driving than I do my peers. I will read a short text if i feel that i need to, but I respond with a phone call instead of a text.
On another note, did anybody else catch the Tesla Roadster at 00:34?
@pew1337pew As there's no proof they weren't caused by escaped polar bears. Nonetheless, people so addicted to their cell phones, defending the use of them while driving need to be culled from the gene pool.
@YamatoHenge disable texting? to be honest i think THATS more dangerous than to text and drive, what if your in an emergency? you just dont text as your driving, simple as that.
