I've always thought he was kinda like the male version of Mariah Carey :-)

IDK I just always pictured her singing all of his songs the same way he did...ya know the arrangement and everything. It's hard to explain but just the whole way he sings...Anyway, It's a beautiful song. Just about everything he does is though. The best never really do make it big but I kinda like it that way. I love having such beautiful, heartfelt music that nobody really knows. It's like a treasure.
