If the other Arab states allowed the Palestinian refugees in like Jordan did it would have been sending a message that it was okay for the West to come in and do whatever they liked. Jordan both had a low population and was already on friendly terms with the British, who had placed Abdullah into power. Also, when you say "tiny" in reference to Israel you are correct about the geographical size of the country, but their manpower and access to weapons was far superior to that of the Arabs.

Britain had no right promising land to Israel.......Just has they had no right spending most of the 19th century rampaging around the world stealing land from millions of people........The British population certainly did not benefit. The vast majority lived in slums and were treated like animals by the ruling classes.........It is always the one percent who ruin it for everyone.

@globalman2 I have studied history, and this is correct. Palestine is just a territory, it's name is derived from Philista. That's name given to the area by the Romans when they took control of the area. From roman times to today the Israelite's have lived there, the "palestinian people" were made up just to wage war on Isreal.

THE ORIGINAL INHABITANTS OF TODAY'S ISRAEL TERRITORY ARE THE CANAANITE PEOPLE WHO ARE LARGELY MADE OF NOMADIC TRIBES COVERING MESOPOTAMIA TO SYRIA AND DOWN THE JORDAN VALLEY. JEWS ARE A RELIGIOUS DENOMINATION NOT AN ETHNIC GROUP. ALL INHABITANTS ARE SEMITES TRIBES IRRELEVANT OF RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION.
