A .45 ACP will not stop some one right away the threat may have enough of a combination of drugs, intoxicants andrenaline etc to allow them to continue the fight for several seconds and up to a minute max. The only sure way is a CNS hit to the upper spine  or brain I've seen a bad guy even though critically wounded come in alive and often survive.

If you hit them 15 times with .45 hp......they won't keep coming. You pretty much just cut them in half.

@hyuugaamida I would encourage you to watch the caliber and shot placement videos. IF you hit them, and it probably won't be but 1 or 2 times, and there isn't a magic bullet out there other than the .50 cal that will cut anyone in half. Most people who are shot LIVE. In fact, only 20% of people who are shot die. Question is, how many die on the spot? Probably less than half of the 20%.

@brian47374 Shot placement is always key to stopping a fight - the best place for stoping a fight is the pelvic girdle. (Hips) I'd explain it but if you can't see why I'd doubt it's going to do you much good.

Good advice. I think pepper spray is a great first line defense (won't have to worry about being justified) PS saved me twice from getting mugged. Avoid if at all possible...shooting a bad guy (if justified) will cost you at least $10 K in legal fees. Again, thanks for the info..will check it out.

You do have to worry about being justified in using pepper spray. Unjustified use can be a felony, just not as serious a felony as manslaughter.
