  • Nice! What are the lyrics?

  • This is what I was looking for since I saw the film but I can't seem to but it on iTunes- would you gave any suggestions as to where to get this track? Thank you so much!

  • Please do not convert the sound and take out the scratches from the old record. A old Schellack record without the scratches is like a ship, but no water! The song is awesome!

  • Yes! The Chevrolet program! That was even before Don wilson, who later joined Jack as his announcer in 1934 for the JELLO show on NBC. My favorite singer was Frank Parker -1934-1934. Ah to live in those depression era days.........

  • ah to be broke and unable to feed your family

those were the days werent they

  • That's right, on Jack's "CHEVROLET PROGRAM", 'barber', when Melton was the resident tenor and "silly kid" (as Kenny Baker and Dennis Day later were).

  • Recorded on January 20, 1930, and originally released as "Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra". James Melton later became a popular semi-classical and opera singer on radio, and starred in several Metropolitan Opera productions as well...

  • Melton also was Jack bennys singer on his VERY EARLy radio show 1933-1934

  • I have the Burt Lown of this w/Smith Ballew as the Vocalist on ARC (Romeo) it is a wonderful song. If you could repost for fidelity reasons that would be great, but it is a great record nontheless; for a Shilkret it is also pretty scarce as well, even for 1929.

  • You should try to redo this one. This is a great song. All your other posts came out good.
