@kaskenkimm I think there are a few different versions of the MD80 around. You could always try the timeset.txt file used by the 808 camera to see if that works - it's worth a try - It's on my website TECHMOAN.COM on the Files And Drivers Page - Or perhaps someone else with the version you have can post a reply here to help.
The ones I have (imported) seem to have a 4gb limit and wont go over this...are also thirsty with the amount of MB they use per film....No good for an hours commute...My original MUVI's last well over an hour which is sufficient....I wont be buying any imports anymore.

I looked into getting one but it's way too heavy to clip to your T-shirt. It would pull your shirt down! Better used as a clip-on dashboard cam or something. If it could be made lighter, it wouldn't be a bad model. Will look into the HD808 #11 and the Zetta Z11.
I know I just put it in the bag obviously, but I'd like to see some innovative way, like tightening it around the lense, somehow that it still produces a quality image.
Zetta Z11 can record 8 hours with battery and can record and charge at the same time. Keep 96 hours of video in 32GB microSD card. Check it out in youtube by searching "Zetta Z11".

@Cofipustinja y3000 Reformat your memory card. Format it as FAT or FAT32 - not NTFS. If that doesn't work you will have just exhausted the one and only solution available for all problems with this camera.
@Techmoan Thx man, I have tried it before, didnt work. Anyway, I've solved this problem, and it was stupidly simple. I've just changed the cable, and now it works. The thing is - the cable that comes with it is total crap. It shows that the camera is being charged, but actually it does not get enough power...
Hello Techmoan, could you buy a MD80 clone from ebay and do a comparison vid?? From what I gather your AEE is the real thing, the clones have a plastic body, not metal. It would be good to see if they are any different, other than cosmetic.
@hipo1024 I was thinking about this, but the MD80 is a pretty old camera now. This review is almost 2 years old and the mini cameras are doing 720p HD now. The problem with reviewing a clone is that there are so many different ones, the MD80 I buy would probably be different from the model someone else buys, making the review worthless. However I understand that some people like the MD80 due to it's sound activation function, so I may do a bit of research on eBay and pick up a cheap one.
If you want to see reviews of the clone, there are plenty on YT, it's called the D001 mini dvr or the MD90. Maplins currently have the original metal MD80 and the plastic MD90 on promotion. The MD90 comes with a 2Gb card and loads of accessories. The clones record slightly higher resolution and also have voice activation, but don't believe the record times, the claimed 40 minutes per Gb is nonsense, it's actually 12 minutes per Gb, so the maximum 8Gb card will record for 96 minutes.
@GaryXJ6 Ive got a clone from ebay, seems prity good, I just wondered what they might be like side by side....see if the real one is worth the extra money. and I took 11mins of video and it used about 1.4GBs. But thanks for the heads up!
I think you've made the better choice. The metal MD80 is really heavy, and everyone I know that has one has had to use tape or elastic bands to keep it secure in it's various brackets. My (much lighter) MD90 is on a mountain bike and has never once rattled free. Plus if it gets broken it's a fraction of the cost.

@kadajshm Most problems I have with these is battery life. I'm usually not home for extended periods of time so 2 hours is nowhere near how much I need.
I'm having an issue with the one I just received in the mail. My lights are red and blue and when I turn it on, the blue light goes on, then the red one flashes just once and then stays lit and nothing happens with the camera after that. My computer doesn't recognize it when I plug it in. What do you think it could be? (I've tried using the reset button to no avail.)
There is a fault with the clones where the lens has either been fitted upside down or come off completely in transit. There is a YT user called kenneth198512 who has a video showing how to fix either fault. It's very easy to do as long as you have a set of mini screwdrivers to open the case. The lens just clips back in.
This camera is a piece of crap. I would not recommend anyone buying it. I got no support from the manufacturer of the CompUSA where i purchased it. Drives don't work, instruction disc does not load, camera only records sound, the mode switch does nothing. no website support. Do yourself a favor and save your money.
From completely flat to fully charged takes 90 minutes. While charging, the blue light is on constant and the red light flashes. When the camera is fully charged, both red and blue lights are on constantly. It's best to charge from the mains charger or a powered usb port (the one with the dotted line underneath the usb symbol).
The one in my vid was a PNY Micro SDHC class 4.. There is a perceptible amount of skip, but it is a bit better than the card the camera came with. Strangely, some videos have it.. some do not. In low light, it did not stutter, but half the frame was black. In a bright room, I noticed a tad more stutter. Check out my Rowdy mix in the lower corner for results.
@BlindBatInsider if your platform is stable the camera is., There is no wiggle in the camera itself.. I play paintball, it would be great, but you would have to get a real solid base.
My MD80 has the maker's name 'Turnigy' on the front. ... for whatever reason. The instructions came in Chinese (importer had written his own version in English), but was certainly referred to as an MD80. The minicam casing is the same, but it has buttons instead of switches and the LEDs are different. Quality seems to be better - no nearly so jerky. Mine has time and date in the bottom corner too, which I haven't yet worked out how to switch off. Any ideas pls?
i was wondering, is the disc that you got with it much smaller than a standard CD, because mine is, and i dont know how to put it on my computer... :/
@stuartstudios Yes they tend to come with an 8cm disc. If your PC is a slot loader like my Macbook & Mac Mini - you may not be able to insert these safely. There is no need to use the disc at all unless you want to use the camera as a webcam as usually the only relevant thing on the disc is the webcam drivers. If you really need these drivers you can download them from my site in the "Files and Drivers" section.
imo the only real way to spy on someone is to hack their facebook account,doing so will almost make your victim an open book and the easiest way to hack someone's facebook right now is to use this program called chinaman facebook hacker .its the only working facebook hacking tool at the moment and its free for now. google it,contact me if you cant find it make sure you only download it from chinamans groups official page(link is available on my channel,see channel comments)

@TheGoodvideoclips The cheap ones are copies - the Aee model is the original one. This video review was put up in July 2009 - the prices from then won't be relevant any more. Some of the cheap ones are not bad though - for £5 it would be worth giving it a shot.
My problem , no not the only one , is that I have no insruction/instalation leaflet ! add to this my lack of computer tech. knowledge and I`m holding a rather good value looking bit of kit which , at present , is of no use to me ! In case you haven't worked it out yet ... it has a power off feature if you turn it on without a memory card inserted. That's probably your problem.

The one in my vid was a PNY Micro SDHC class 4.. There is a perceptible amount of skip, but it is a bit better than the card the camera came with. Strangely, some videos have it.. some do not. In low light, it did not stutter, but half the frame was black. In a bright room, I noticed a tad more stutter. Check out my Rowdy mix in the lower corner for results.

@BlindBatInsider if your platform is stable the camera is., There is no wiggle in the camera itself.. I play paintball, it would be great, but you would have to get a real solid base.

My MD80 has the maker's name 'Turnigy' on the front. ... for whatever reason. The instructions came in Chinese (importer had written his own version in English), but was certainly referred to as an MD80. The minicam casing is the same, but it has buttons instead of switches and the LEDs are different. Quality seems to be better - no nearly so jerky. Mine has time and date in the bottom corner too, which I haven't yet worked out how to switch off. Any ideas pls?

The smearing video has to do with slow shutter speed used to control exposure. Probably not a very light sensitive sensor chip.

@stuartstudios in your normal disk drive there should be an indentation in the center the size of the smaller disk

@stuartstudios Yes they tend to come with an 8cm disc. If your PC is a slot loader like my Macbook & Mac Mini - you may not be able to insert these safely. There is no need to use the disc at all unless you want to use the camera as a webcam as usually the only relevant thing on the disc is the webcam drivers. If you really need these drivers you can download them from my site in the "Files and Drivers" section.

@Gencturk92 I know - there was no way to play a Mini-DV tape in a VHS Player - the formats were incompatible. Why is it that you want to know this - I don't understand the reason for the question.

@TheGoodvideoclips The cheap ones are copies - the Aee model is the original one. This video review was put up in July 2009 - the prices from then won't be relevant any more. Some of the cheap ones are not bad though - for £5 it would be worth giving it a shot.

My problem , no not the only one , is that I have no insruction/instalation leaflet ! add to this my lack of computer tech. knowledge and I`m holding a rather good value looking bit of kit which , at present , is of no use to me ! Could any one suggest how I might find a downloadable manual ? The video review from Techomoan has inspired me to persevere , good job done

Haven't used the footage with either editing package myself, but it's a pretty standard type of file so should work fine. I use iMovie on the Mac.
