I think you misinterpreted him. He's not threatning nor attacking any Islamic parties; he's drawing a parallel between Egypt under a religious rule and the situation in Iran. As an Egyptian, whatever your religious beliefs are, would you like to live like the Iranians in oppression? Personally, as a moderate Muslim and as an Egyptian I would not; and I will not surrender to a religious state!

Of course! All Muslims and Non-Muslims would not! A simple reason is that Iran is not the unique example most of Egyptians want.

If you asked any LOYAL and SINCERE Egyptian about his wishes regarding the future of Egypt, he will give you a forthright answer "TO BE THE GREATEST, STRONGEST AND MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD".

So, ALL Egyptians have an absolute right to call for (and stand to) what they believe in without any kind of injustice, oppression or exclusion.

The man is a visionary. I feel his pain. The Moslem Brotherhood and the Salafis will spell doom to Egypt and the whole region. It is scary enough for people of reason. I can’t imagine how scary it is for a Christian. I can’t but admire his courage to stand against the dark forces of fanatical religion. The Arab Spring is starting to look like the Arab Fall. Sad to see the signs of hope and life being dashed by the religious opportunists who will be as bad as the dictators they replaced.

@EnlightenedEgyptians I really dont get why someone would give this video such a name.. He doesn't attack or threaten. He reasonably speaks on behalf of liberals and minorities in Egypt. The truth from a man who is highly influential in this country, having even dealt with and spoken to foreign governments in hopes of bringing their aid to our country.

Continued...Egypt is not Iran and won’t be. Funny enough you are using the same tactics of Mubarak, Egypt will be a 2nd Iran!! Very naïve, for sure any elected party won't be worse than the Mubarak regime. If we strongly and truly support a real democratic process (not the Sawiris way of democracy), whoever is there in power, he won't stay in power unless he delivers to his own people. The oppression and repression era is gone. Let's all work together for the sake of Egypt.

It seems that Mr Sawiris is ignorant about what 'Democracy' means. Here is the definition from Merriam-Webster Dictionary. "Democracy: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections." There is no mention of interference whatsoever to implement Democracy. I don't care who will win as long as a real democratic process is there. continued...
