Actually I found out that the circle with the dot inside, which is suppose to be where your bullets will hit, is much more accurate then the SU-35's :)
Not that I am the greatest pilot out there (in games, LOL) however, I'd say that the F35 is pretty darn good at turning. Given you bleed the speed accordingly followed by pushing the nose up, followed by turning. Give it a go, is all I'd say
@MajSobbero no way, the flanker will destroy the f35 99 times out of 100, if the f35 gets behind you you just turn around and your on the f35's tail, if they stop you can swoop around and take them out

i was owning a su 35 with f-35 and the pilot was not a noob but in hover mode you are like a chopper so they have a harder time to kill you especially if you have the hardbrake button in use!
when im in a dogfight (in an F-35) with a su-35 and the enemy pilot is outturning me, i just go in to hover mode, swivel around, and take him out with heat-seekers.

here's a tip diego if a SU is on your tail then slow down till your behind him (hover) make sure you have extinguisher then when behind don't speed up, stay hovering just in case he makes a turn.
I've been flying in bf3 and old bf games for long time, and i just saw all your video tutorials cause a friend showed them to me. Its funny cause we do many things in the same way, maneuvers, loadouts, without havent seen each others gamestyle. I encourage all the people to follow this tutorial cause theese are the best tips for flying in my opinion.

As a Rush pilot I typically don't fly Conquest too often. I would consider myself a damn good pilot too (on Xbox) as in my 25 hours of flying I've found only 4 players I would call equal skill level to me but none better. In conquest, I do pretty well and have had a few great matches in the F-35 but the second the opposition had a decent Su-35 pilot it was impossible for me no matter what tactic I deployed.
I been using the F35 as a heli, not as a jet. Only way to do it right. And yeh, the hover ability is REALLY inconsistent and annoying. Only seems to hover immediately after take-off... all other times it slowly loses attitude... Also when trying to land for repairs the hover will often send me back up again. :(
@OhManTFE Yep...but try this. Hover works consistently when you are close to the ground AND the landing gear comes out.....leave the throttle full but use the brake ('S' key on PC) and you will hover and can control it (some people use afterburner at the same time, but I am not sure if that helps at all). Having the landing gear down is the key I am pretty sure....that's why you slowly sink if you are up in the air higher.
Why keep the same Russian plane but change the american plane?! they should have changed both. And they shouldn't of even chosen the f-35 they should have gone with the f-22 for america and the su-37 for Russia. Both of those planes look AWESOME and they are 5th generation. It also would have been cool if they allowed 2 maned jets, it would be similar to the campaign mission :D
the thing about the F-35 is, it isnt as maneuverable as the Su-35 in real life, so there is no need to fix the maneuverability. and the aiming is not centered because you can put the crosshair(the small plus sign with the dot in the middle)on the plane you are chasing and the gun reticle(the big circle with the dot in the middle)will adjust to help you hit the target. but in terms of maneuverability, the F-35 is no match for even less experienced pilots, there is really no strategy besides luck.
While u cant win dog fights. The patterns ands low altitudes I fly at keep enemy pilots off my back, where the f-35 shines is ground support. Honestly that all I do anyway. So it works for me.
Bottom line is that the F35 CAN keep up with the SU-35 but it has a bigger learning curve (decrease speed to 290-310 knots to make as sharp or close as sharp of a turn as the SU-35)and you CAN destroy an SU-35 with it even if agaisnt the best pilots.
@URsuckishATlife Best SU pilots will out turn you every time and lower F35 cannons velocity and zoomed crosshairs make it almost impossible to destroy good or decent Sukhoi pilots.
@TomuxLT probably but like I stated, it's because of the learning curve. Both planes have similar optimal turning speeds(285 knots).
Now, most likely than not, if you're in a dogfight, you will gain/lose altitude, meaning that you will gain/lose speed making it much more difficult to keep that steady speed if not impossible.
Now, holding down the brake on the SU35 has little to no downside but doing so on the F35 will make the plane go into hover mode, hence making it easier to be shot down

f-35 is better against choppers, hover mode is just something fancy NEVER use it. ONLY when someone is behind you.i always use beam scanning and ecm jammer and heat seekers. the the has powerfull cannons and turning speed is slow. its shoots between to lockes crosshair and the hoverinng one. you just need to get used to it.
since it is possible to slow down and let the SU pass you, wouldn't a good load out contain Beam Scanning and Heat Seekers to quickly lock on to the enemy pilot before he turns to get away?
might i suggest a tactic, when you have got an enemy hot on your tail and your in an F35, brake until u go into the hover mode, the SU will fly right past you, I've done this many times and it works. try lose altitude while you're hovering as it will make you a hard target if he is far behind you. As soon as he flies by you just hit the afterburner and now you will be on his tail. thumbs up so people can see, works everytime
i find i can turn faster than you can in the f-35, at least in this video.i play on the xbox, and a quick alternation of acceleration and deceleration seems to work, although you have to accelerate more than decelerate; it seems to me at least that you decelerate much faster than you accelerate. im not the best jet pilot by a long shot, but i was able to out maneuver a lot of enemy jets. i find if you treat this jet more like jet-chopper hybrid it works better since it is mainly anti-infantry.
The F-35 Lightning IS a cool plane, BUT i do believe this guy is right. The SU-35 is a better plane in experienced hands. So Dice should've put in the F-22 Raptor, to take hovering out of the equation, and put the SU-37 Terminator in Russian hands to counter the F-22's awesome manueverabilty. Or this is what i would've personally. =/ I think that would've been way more badass. not to say the F-35 wasn't a cool plane and all.
I agree. F-35 simply can not handle a Flanker, simply put, the flanker is the better choice, the fact that whenever I try to slow down I drop from the sky because hover mode, or rather instant death mode starts and I'm sent to a scream flaming death of rage. I've seen one F-35 beat me in a Flanker, he bleed his speed, and managed to line himself up perfectly and disable me with his cannon. However I just came back, and killed him. He took me out once, taking me by suprise. I killed 4 times after
best way to out maneuver,to get behind the enemy jet whilst in a circle,is tap the brake,keep tapping it while looking at your radar,tapping ur brake makes your circle smaller,and gun them,usually they then go up to avoid the bullets, works everytime
I just have to say that I completely agree with the guy in the video. He basicly hits the nail on the head of what's wrong and unballanced with this jet. It is, is fact, supposed to be a 5th generation multirole stealth fighter. In theory it would be supperior to the SU

This actually to me is a load of bull, not trying to say you don't make good reveiws (you make great ones) but I have never had an issue dominating the air with the f-35 in any match i have been in, the f-35 is really a good jet that depends on the pilot, i've managed to out fly the SU-35 even with some of the best flying them, it's just a matter of how you think when flying. Gotta be a faster thinker to out do those fast jets ;)
@MattitudeXSensei What I am trying to say is that it doesn't stand a chance against a good pilot flying the SU-35. I tested non stop for over 1 hour, doing 1 vs 1 against a equally great pilot flying the SU and I didn't stand a chance - we then switched jets, and HE didn't stand a chance. However, with the F-35 you can still own noobs or dominate if there is not air competition BUT any decent SU pilot will own you everytime. period. If you got what it takes to prove me wrong I'd LOVE to see it.

@elitegamerbros the trick is, DO NOT repeat DO NOT get in a turning fight, you are doomed if you do that against a flanker, a lightning cant outmaneuver a flanker so get creative, thats pretty much it
@deltaD07 I just flew with a wingman on the f-35 and here is the conclusion: F-35 by itself still sucks against good pilots...BUT if you have a wingman you can survive ALOT longer...video coming soon.
@elitegamerbros like i said, i spent some time playing against great pilots using both the F35 and the SU-35 and it came out to be my F35 and me dominating most of the time. If i get a chance i'll record some footage of me out flying them in the f-35 and drop you a message mentioning it

The F-35 not only turns slower.. but (at least on xbox 360) the aiming interface is slightly different. in the F-35 when you turn, the machine guns reticle sways with your movement, Whereas it remains still with the others, making it so much easier to lead and shoot in general
@elitegamerbros No offense but i'm surprised you didn't know that there is an AIR BREAK for all jets now... The Back To Karkand expansion introduced a new key for jets... ctrl. It is the air break and is much more useful than pressing S. Give it a try. Makes the F35 viable against a SU.
@elitegamerbros I agree with your review 100% but I have more kills in the F35 than any other jet. The hover capability plays a key role in defending the flags and even taking out enemy vehicles. However that only works when the enemy jets are pre-occupied or you are in control of the airfield part of the map
@MattitudeXSensei Actually no matter how good of a pilot you are if you're put against someone who knows his way around a jet and hes in the SU-35 while you're in the F-35, the best chance you got against him is if you shoot at him head on, if hes on your tail then good luck my friend because chances are hes gonna shoot you down before you can do anything about it. The only thing i find really useful about the F-35 is how effective they are against ground units and choppers.
@MattitudeXSensei I've got six aerial kills in a round with the F-35 on Su-35S; yet, I detest it: it's sluggish and just refuses to turn, and it takes sharp reflexes and a keen attention to every signal the plane gives you to not stall it and crash, nevermind ace-ing.

For everyone else - I got the Realmware mod to bind a button to the brake so the F-35 does not go into hover...it helps, but the SU-35 Flanker still out turns you, the best I could do was to not get killed in a circle dogfight (I think I got the Flanker once) but I was stuck in an endless circle without being able to really get behind the Flanker reliably. I agree with this vid.

I had a 23-0 game with the f-35 and I out turned every jet that challenged me. you have to use a combination of throttle down and afterburner, and you'll win every time! You should fly it more before you say its useless...
U know it is possible to out run the SU..... with the maintain speed of 280 to 290.... and you said it is impossible right? Well it is possible, just tap the break once or twice and press the boost button hold it for 1sec and press it again.... This means you can maintain speed within the range of 280 to 300 easily.
I came here because I was experiencing the same problems, but hoped it was just because I was too stupid to figure out how to brake without going into hover mode. Guess I'm not as noob as I thought, which is still bad.

i think that the only way to use it effectively is to get a high altitude and use heat seekers to take out enemy aircraft, it can be difficult to win a close rage dog fight and i was sad to find out how balanced it was just cause it can hover
The only good thing that this jet has going for it is its more powerful cannon. Only a handful of direct hits will not only disable the Su-35, but destroy it completely and killing the enemy pilot. This is also great when dealing with enemy tanks, as you can destroy them in one pass. You're right about a different key or button needed to engage the hover mode, as well as giving this thing a maneuverability boost. Perhaps giving it the same turn rate, but slower roll rate would even things out.
@elitegamerbros All right... A lot of good pilots told me that the F-35 is not really good on dog fight... And yes, they do use it to steal the ennemy jet too...
Yeah it is the most difficult jet to get used to. It's not totally bad but you can be very effective if you know what you're doing. I just went 14-1 today with the Harrier on the Gulf of Oman playing a Conquest match. The 1 death was from an enemy jet crashing into me lol!!
i find the F35 to be the best partly because when im chasing a heli i can just use hover mode to stay still and take advantage by getting better aim against a target, also when being chased by a plane just use hover mode to out turn your enemy and then kill them :)
This isn't the first time we've had a VTOL in BF...I'm surprised I even need to say this, but if they buffed the F35 the SU would have no advantages. Now that the commander and related features are gone, the only advantage C flag on Wake is removing jets and aa from the enemy (and splitting the map, but that's unrelated). Just because an F35 doesn't play the same way as a SU doesn't mean its unbalanced. There's more to balance than direct counters.
@Trux2010 285-290 is perfectly fine for SU35 and F18 but going that slow on F-35 would cause you to slow down too often when you accidentally dip below that range becaue of how sensitive the break is.
@Kprawl291986 It's a balance. If the F-35 could turn like an F-18 or SU-35, it would be overpowered. It already has a stronger gun than the F-18 and SU-35, and it is faster in a straight line with better acceleration. DICE implements "rock paper scissors" style gameplay, meaning everything can be taken out by the enemy. If you had a highly maneuverable, anti-tank, anti-air, very fast jet, it would be completely unfair.
@edawg792 last i heard, DICE was trying to make the guns handle realistically, and let their real life perks determine the winner in game, let it balance itself out with realism, i'm sure that'd work just fine with the jets, as well
@hylianknight3 That's what I'm saying. Keep it the way it is. The F-35B (STVOL variant) is much heavier than other fighters, and even the F-35A (regular takeoff) variant. The lift fan in the F-35B weighs several thousand pounds. In real life it is not intended to dogfight, it is intended to provide CAS for ground forces. The weight of the lift fan makes it much less maneuverable than other fighters. That's how DICE made it in the game. It is realistic and balanced.
totally agree with this, the F-35 is extremely unefficient compared to the flanker, the hover mode does not make up to the sluggish controls of the jet.
The only reason I found the F-35 to be useful is to use it as a secondary helicopter which just makes the F-35 useless because the SU-35 will just keep shooting you down.

There is a higher learning curve for the jet. It will take time for people to get better. I wouldn't call it imbalanced seeing it has more functions than the rest of the fighters in the game.
Good video, thanks for the heads up. You think you could do a video on the different attachments and rounds for the shotguns and the attached shotguns for the Assault class? I still do not know the difference between flechette, buckshot, and slug rounds.

The only thing I like about it is making enemy jet pilots feel embarrassed when I shoot them down. A separate button would be nice for it, fixing the aim to the corsshairs like all the other jets would be nice, and allowing you to lift up while in hover mode would all make the aircraft worth using.
@iamgig9876 The F-35 is a Multirole fighter, Meaning its built for both Air/Ground attack, Since it has to attack both, It will lack compared to a dedicated Air or Ground Fighter.
The Su-35 is also a multirole, But it was built more towards Air superiority.
Conclusion: DICE can't get there shit balanced. and Americans are not to blame.
Dice should put 2 jets per team, One for Ground (Frogfoot/Warthog) and One for Air (F15?/MiG29?)

@Jaxxmino I dont even know why they put the su 25, they should have put the su 34 which beats every american attack aircraft... They should keep su 35 and fa-18 super hornet for fighter WVR and they should give bvr capabilities to them (SU 35>>FA 18 at BVR) . Yes Americans are to blame, and since this game is set at 2014 a f 35 should be the american fighter, and since it sucks massive balls in bvr, and is barely stealthy it is holding the game back!
I think that DICE intentionally nerfed the F-35 because of hover mode - if they made the F-35 just as agile as the enemy fighter, plus increased anti-ground capability with hover, it'd seem overpowered. Problem is, their "balance" of the F-35 makes it worthless in an air superiority or support role, completely negating any balance whatsoever.
As it stands, though, I try to fly support and let the chopper deal with the enemy jets. Or just bail out and cry manly tears.
F-35 is one of the most agile jets ever made. So of course, Dice has to make it a slow turning, piece of shit.

@TomuxLT probably but like I stated, it's because of the learning curve. Both planes have similar optimal turning speeds(285 knots).
Now, most likely than not, if you're in a dogfight, you will gain/lose altitude, meaning that you will gain/lose speed making it much more difficult to keep that steady speed if not impossible.
Now, holding down the brake on the SU35 has little to no downside but doing so on the F35 will make the plane go into hover mode, hence making it easier to be shot down

ONLY when someone is behind you.i always use beam scanning and ecm jammer and heat seekers. the the has powerfull cannons and turning speed is slow. its shoots between to lockes crosshair and the hoverinng one. you just need to get used to it.

might i suggest a tactic, when you have got an enemy hot on your tail and your in an F35, brake until u go into the hover mode, the SU will fly right past you, I've done this many times and it works. try lose altitude while you're hovering as it will make you a hard target if he is far behind you. As soon as he flies by you just hit the afterburner and now you will be on his tail. thumbs up so people can see, works everytime

i find i can turn faster than you can in the f-35, at least in this video.i play on the xbox, and a quick alternation of acceleration and deceleration seems to work, although you have to accelerate more than decelerate; it seems to me at least that you decelerate much faster than you accelerate. im not the best jet pilot by a long shot, but i was able to out maneuver a lot of enemy jets. i find if you treat this jet more like jet-chopper hybrid it works better since it is mainly anti-infantry.

The F-35 Lightning IS a cool plane, BUT i do believe this guy is right. The SU-35 is a better plane in experienced hands. So Dice should've put in the F-22 Raptor, to take hovering out of the equation, and put the SU-37 Terminator in Russian hands to counter the F-22's awesome manueverabilty. Or this is what i would've personally. =/ I think that would've been way more badass. not to say the F-35 wasn't a cool plane and all.

I agree. F-35 simply can not handle a Flanker, simply put, the flanker is the better choice, the fact that whenever I try to slow down I drop from the sky because hover mode, or rather instant death mode starts and I'm sent to a scream flaming death of rage. I've seen one F-35 beat me in a Flanker, he bleed his speed, and managed to line himself up perfectly and disable me with his cannon. However I just came back, and killed him. He took me out once, taking me by suprise. I killed 4 times after

best way to out maneuver,to get behind the enemy jet whilst in a circle,is tap the brake,keep tapping it while looking at your radar,tapping ur brake makes your circle smaller,and gun them,usually they then go up to avoid the bullets, works everytime

This actually to me is a load of bull, not trying to say you don't make good reveiws (you make great ones) but I have never had an issue dominating the air with the f-35 in any match i have been in, the f-35 is really a good jet that depends on the pilot, i've managed to out fly the SU-35 even with some of the best flying them, it's just a matter of how you think when flying. Gotta be a faster thinker to out do those fast jets ;)

@MattitudeXSensei What I am trying to say is that it doesn't stand a chance against a good pilot flying the SU-35. I tested non stop for over 1 hour, doing 1 vs 1 against a equally great pilot flying the SU and I didn't stand a chance - we then switched jets, and HE didn't stand a chance. However, with the F-35 you can still own noobs or dominate if there is not air competition BUT any decent SU pilot will own you everytime. period. If you got what it takes to prove me wrong I'd LOVE to see it.

The F-35 not only turns slower.. but (at least on xbox 360) the aiming interface is slightly different. in the F-35 when you turn, the machine guns reticle sways with your movement, Whereas it remains still with the others, making it so much easier to lead and shoot in general

@elitegamerbros No offense but i'm surprised you didn't know that there is an AIR BREAK for all jets now... The Back To Karkand expansion introduced a new key for jets... ctrl. It is the air break and is much more useful than pressing S. Give it a try. Makes the F35 viable against a SU.

@elitegamerbros I agree with your review 100% but I have more kills in the F35 than any other jet. The hover capability plays a key role in defending the flags and even taking out enemy vehicles. However that only works when the enemy jets are pre-occupied or you are in control of the airfield part of the map

@MattitudeXSensei Actually no matter how good of a pilot you are if you're put against someone who knows his way around a jet and hes in the SU-35 while you're in the F-35, the best chance you got against him is if you shoot at him head on, if hes on your tail then good luck my friend because chances are hes gonna shoot you down before you can do anything about it. The only thing i find really useful about the F-35 is how effective they are against ground units and choppers.

For everyone else - I got the Realmware mod to bind a button to the brake so the F-35 does not go into hover...it helps, but the SU-35 Flanker still out turns you, the best I could do was to not get killed in a circle dogfight (I think I got the Flanker once) but I was stuck in an endless circle without being able to really get behind the Flanker reliably. I agree with this vid.

I had a 23-0 game with the f-35 and I out turned every jet that challenged me. you have to use a combination of throttle down and afterburner, and you'll win every time! You should fly it more before you say its useless...

U know it is possible to out run the SU..... with the maintain speed of 280 to 290.... and you said it is impossible right? Well it is possible, just tap the break once or twice and press the boost button hold it for 1sec and press it again.... This means you can maintain speed within the range of 280 to 300 easily.

i think that the only way to use it effectively is to get a high altitude and use heat seekers to take out enemy aircraft, it can be difficult to win a close rage dog fight and i was sad to find out how balanced it was just cause it can hover

The only good thing that this jet has going for it is its more powerful cannon. Only a handful of direct hits will not only disable the Su-35, but destroy it completely and killing the enemy pilot. This is also great when dealing with enemy tanks, as you can destroy them in one pass. You're right about a different key or button needed to engage the hover mode, as well as giving this thing a maneuverability boost. Perhaps giving it the same turn rate, but slower roll rate would even things out.

Yeah it is the most difficult jet to get used to. It's not totally bad but you can be very effective if you know what you're doing. I just went 14-1 today with the Harrier on the Gulf of Oman playing a Conquest match. The 1 death was from an enemy jet crashing into me lol!!

This isn't the first time we've had a VTOL in BF...I'm surprised I even need to say this, but if they buffed the F35 the SU would have no advantages. Now that the commander and related features are gone, the only advantage C flag on Wake is removing jets and aa from the enemy (and splitting the map, but that's unrelated). Just because an F35 doesn't play the same way as a SU doesn't mean its unbalanced. There's more to balance than direct counters.

@Kprawl291986 It's a balance. If the F-35 could turn like an F-18 or SU-35, it would be overpowered. It already has a stronger gun than the F-18 and SU-35, and it is faster in a straight line with better acceleration. DICE implements "rock paper scissors" style gameplay, meaning everything can be taken out by the enemy. If you had a highly maneuverable, anti-tank, anti-air, very fast jet, it would be completely unfair.

@hylianknight3 That's what I'm saying. Keep it the way it is. The F-35B (STVOL variant) is much heavier than other fighters, and even the F-35A (regular takeoff) variant. The lift fan in the F-35B weighs several thousand pounds. In real life it is not intended to dogfight, it is intended to provide CAS for ground forces. The weight of the lift fan makes it much less maneuverable than other fighters. That's how DICE made it in the game. It is realistic and balanced.

The only thing I like about it is making enemy jet pilots feel embarrassed when I shoot them down. A separate button would be nice for it, fixing the aim to the corsshairs like all the other jets would be nice, and allowing you to lift up while in hover mode would all make the aircraft worth using.

@iamgig9876 The F-35 is a Multirole fighter, Meaning its built for both Air/Ground attack, Since it has to attack both, It will lack compared to a dedicated Air or Ground Fighter.
The Su-35 is also a multirole, But it was built more towards Air superiority.
Conclusion: DICE can't get there shit balanced. and Americans are not to blame.
Dice should put 2 jets per team, One for Ground (Frogfoot/Warthog) and One for Air (F15?/MiG29?)

I think that DICE intentionally nerfed the F-35 because of hover mode - if they made the F-35 just as agile as the enemy fighter, plus increased anti-ground capability with hover, it'd seem overpowered. Problem is, their "balance" of the F-35 makes it worthless in an air superiority or support role, completely negating any balance whatsoever.
As it stands, though, I try to fly support and let the chopper deal with the enemy jets. Or just bail out and cry manly tears.
