Don't forget Cornelius "Frankenpitch" McGlowski... the only pitcher in Yankee history that lost more games than he didn't win. Plus, he was so mean he once shot a man just for snoring...
@tp0817 why chien mong wang, he was doing great before his foot injury, twice won 19 games and was in line for cy young award, now thanks to interleague play his foot is fucked up
Kenny Rogers was a post-season bust for the Yankees and the Mets. Didn't he walk the winning run in a NL playoff game against Atlanta (as a Met). I believe that Igawa has to be number two behind Pavano.
@EddieD08857 he lead us to the 2009 world series without trading for johan, had we got johan, we wud of lost alot of talented young players like mosley, hughes, and the future catcher, montero. how is he overrated?
@slapshot68 Yanks won the 2009 World Series mostly because they had CC sabathia, Andy Petite, Burnett, and not to mention Texiera. All of these were recent free agent signings. Big time signings. Guess what??? Any Joe Schmoe GM with an unlimited payroll would have signed these guys, so why does Cashman get extra credit? Listen to any sports talk radio personality, and they have been calling the moves Cashman should make to the T. Its not a hard job when you have an owner signing blank checks
I agree with most of the fans posting here. Carl Pavano was EASILY the #1 pitching bust that the Yankees ever had. Not only was Pavano an inept pitcher, but he raked in major dollars while spending years on the "injured" list. You also fail to mention Ed Whitson, who should rank as the #2 pitching bust. Whitson was so bad as a pitcher, that he was followed in his car by angry Bronx fans, after some terrible games. Whitson was intimidated by the city. The #3 bust is useless Steve Trout.
That list could be a lot longer... Pavano absolutely should be #1. Contrereas at least had SOME success on the Yanks, but he wasn't worth all that money. But who is???
Hey how about the redsuks signing Penny and Smolz this year? Talk about two of my favorite all time deals all in the same year! Where is the idiot who created this silly thing? In hiding obviously!!
He still faltered in the playoffs. What is the point of a pitcher leading a team into the playoffs, if they will falter while in it? McDowell should be on the list.
@carlinrulez666 that doesn't make him a bust that just means he struggled in the playoffs im pretty sure there are 4 other pitchers from that team that should be on here then for not picking him up when he did struggle
Where A.J. Burnet?

@cholmes800
Did you spelled his name right? I was trying to look it up but got nothing.
Shooting someone for snoring is just messed up.

You may have to add AJ Burnett to this list. I'm still shocked Cashman gets so much props. What a joke!!

The list needs a revision & a second opinion.

No Kei Igawa??? As miserable as Carl Pavano was, he may very well be the BIGGEST flop of all time.

He was hands down the biggest bust in MLB history.

The Yankees thought he was a bust. By 1996, McDowell was gone.
