By Season 8 THE VIRGINIAN had evolved into a highly dramatic Western series.Besides A FLASH OF DARKNESS which was a classic Virginian solo .the other great episodes were TRAIN TO DARKNESS with Dennis Weaver,THE LONG RIDE HOME ( Leslie Nielsen, stellar performance )and THE SHILOH YEARS with Tony Franciosa .A splendid season !

Never Got to watch those here in Singapore .I amtrying to collect the season 8in DVD I have really developed a nostalgic streak for all of these late 60s TV Gems like this,ALIAS SMITH & JONES ,THE OUTCASTS and the last 2 seasons of BIG VALLEY( 1968 -1969 )
Great Leonard Rosenman score for this episode, I knew without checking Paul Green's book on the show that it was a Rosenman score.
