@pangavamanos Hi, this particular PAZ1 is rated 2hp at 1250rpm - other outputs were available; in this video the engine is running at closer 900rpm. It is a lovely engine and now quite hard to find in such clean and original condition, but sadly this one is no longer owned by me.
@Theoutdoorsguy1 Lack of space, sadly. When I think of all the 'stuff' I've let go over the years just to make room for more stuff - if only I could've kept it all :-(
@electronick450 Most Petter engines were Mid-Brunswick Green BS 381C shade 226, later Petters could be Brilliant Green BS 381C shade 221. I believe this engine was in the later colour (looks different to my original Listers).
@electronick450 I use SAE30 monograde, but I doubt this has any bearing your engine smoking. Mine smokes a little (doesn't show on the vid) which is probably due to me never getting it up to full working temp and running it below its rated speed. If yours has run without any significant load, it could have glazed the bore. Try getting it hot and giving it a hefty load to try and break any glaze. Other issues could be a dirty injector or pump timing out for the running speed.
thanks i will try the oil but do you no anything about converting old mono grade oils to multi grade because i have a petter aa1 and in the workshop manual it says 10w in winter and 20w in summer and i would like to get the modern equivalent oil
@electronick450 Regarding multigrade, a 15W40 would be fine. My PAZ1 had a rebuilt injector pump before I bought it, but I would assume the pump rack dust boots would be available from a diesel repair specialist. As an alternative, very similar boots are used on some automotive brake caliper designs (VW Audi). Do a google image search on "caliper guide boots" to see what I mean. You may find that your local garage may have something suitable lying around.
You've got a great engine there Nigel. Just been re-watching all the PAZ1's. Most PAZ1's, like mine, are are in extremely poor condition. The type of condition where there being sold because they are completly shot! Maybe mine will be like that by the end of summer! (Hopefully) But you can't beat the originality of yours.
Thanks Kieran, I think I got lucky with this one - & I only paid £26! Seems to be a lot changing hands right now but at the same time they still get slated by so called engine enthusiasts - I can't work it out.
The highest output variant of the Petter PAZ1 was 3hp (@1800rpm) and these weighs over 250lbs. I think maybe the Petter AC1 could be the engine you want, though to produce 6.5hp I would guess it'd be running at over 3000rpm.
are these direct or pre chamber injection?

Where did you get spare parts for this engine from?
