The main thing you want to get when you place a cache, is accurate GPS coordinates. I think this model would do fine. When you are at the location of the cache, push and hold the GPS signal icons at the top left. After a few seconds it will go to the GPS signal page, which will have the Lat/longs for your location.
I would make sure you stand in the same place for a minute or so before recording the cache, to make sure you get the most satellites in recording. Lowest error I've seen is 10 ft.
I have this Garmin model too. Do you know if the pedestrian mode is accurate enough to hide a cache? I don't have a handheld one and I really want to hide one. Some have said it works fine but I want to be sure before placing it since I don't have a handheld GPS.
