Rretty sure I rode one of these for my MSF course. Sure it's ugly as hell, but god damn did it perform. Especially at low speeds.

No it isn´t, you can travel in highway around 2 hrs max./lapse because the seat and the bike are small, but its a very good bike!

Get a KLX 250s better on dirt and street... (worth the extra cc's and much more stylish) Also good for beginners and skilled riders alike!

I've got one and it goes about 71 MPH on flat freeway with no terrain. If you crouch down it goes about 2-3MPH faster. On a fairly steep freeway hill it tops out around 64 (the 405 between the 101 and Mullholland). The spedometer reading is 4 MPH high based on GPS comparison, so at 71 it reads 75. It gets 72MPG regardless of how I drive it or if I go on freeway or surface roads.

You say 72mpg but the Suzuki website says 105mpg. False advertising? Or could your bike use a tune-up?

Go with the Ninja. I've had both of those bikes and you'll attract more girls with the Ninja :)

The 2008/2009 Ninjas actually look like sport bikes - they don't have that "imitation-fairings" look that you see with the pre-2009 Ninjas.

The Pre 09's were designed in 1987, and not changed.. they just look dated.. BUT lots of parts, and support, and a proven bike..Also the older oned have a more "Standard" riding position.  I too LOVE the look of the new ones.. But they are not as comfortable.. I also heard they are a little slower.. BUT they have better suspension and brakes.

Nice bike. I just picked up a 97 in great shape with under 6 thousand miles on it for 1350! Rode it 50 miles back to my house with no problems so far. I can't wait to get it registered (its on PNO right now) and on insurance and take it out again!
