Im doing the Home Study Course next week! Only question is, do they first teach you how to draw manga? Or do you just jump right to showing them something you drew?? Cuz im not that good.. :P

@EekWe You might not like this but, basics do help; even if you suck it will get better bit by bit! Plus there are some talented artists that are not Asian, but are too afraid to publish anything! There was this young 16 or 15 year old Japanese girl who published her stuff! Plus even when you do it make it to being one(and i hope you do!)it will be long anyway, practicing or doing the real thing. The first thing you want is to study; guidelines and basic shapes. If you wanna talk let me know!

That what Yakuta Ryuu uses is Paint Tool SAI right? Did he ever use Photoshop or any different programs beside those and if yes then were they good? ^^

You can buy them at your local electronic store or online of course. The he is using looks like the Wacom Bamboo series but there are more higher models which will cost more.

@rainbowhead101 I believe that is a Genius graphics tablet (perhaps a Genius G-Pen F610), if I'm not mistaken. It most certainly looks like it. It differs from a Wacom in its technology. Wacom tablets place most of their technology in their patented-designed tablets, whereas Genius and most other companies place most of their technological power in the pens. Google it. I own (and l<3ve) a Wacom Intuos4 tablet, but I've heard some good reviews about Genius tablets. Budget-friendlier. ;)

If I was not so constrained by bills and stuff I would have done this course too, learning Manga from actual native Japanese people feels so natural in my quest to be a mangaka myself . Yakuta Ryuu San and Shinozaki Yu San may be younger than I am but I will not hesitate to call them Sensei.

I liked how he pointed out how much influence Japan has, it's really true! It's a cycle of influence I guess x3

OMG ONE WITH AKIRA TORIYAMA WOULD BE EPIC!!! they showed a pic of him when he was younger on an interview one time on some japanese show. lol. you want believe how nerdy he looks he had like a bowl haircut and striped shirt lol. he was way nerdy when he was in his 20s. lol.
