My cat gets hypnotised by the water and she just drops her whole head in the water bowl so when we come home sometimes her head is in the fishbowl sometimes or in her water bowl, she also loves water one day i was in the bathh and she jumped in the bathtub with me and she rolls in the rain outside :)

My cats do too. They will drink out of anything with water, including, but not limited to, fish tanks, glasses, sinks with water in them, dishes in the sink with water in them, and vases. Pretty much anything except "designated water dishes" for the cats. We don't even bother with water dishes for them, they've always got their heads in the fish tank.

My cat does a similar thing but she likes to paddle her paws in her water. I got a suspicion she is partially sighted though (she has odd colored eyes) and can't see the water in her bowl. That and she is part Turkish Van (water loving cats) =P

@Zero777ization She is mostly white. She just has a ginger stripy tail, one ginger ear and a couple of symmetrical ginger markings on the top of her head (Quite a defined girl she is ^.^) The pupil in her blue eye is larger than the green eye I've noticed. Her hearing, oddly enough, is fine.

I think that's a semi-instinctive thing a lot of cats do in places where they get food and water. The idea might be to lay down their own personal scent, to stake a claim to the source of where they get their water and nourishment. It seems like a competitive thing; I don' t recall seeing cats from single-cat households doing it as much.
