St. Johns. I was a fan from this year (I was 6 and this was one of my earliest memories along with B. King's knee injury a month later) until Sealy left.
Twenty years and counting, I'm still trying to figure out why St. John's is the only team in the Big East based here in NYC but does the WORST JOB out of them all recruiting NYC (throw in how well Pitt DOES recruit here and how Boeheim doesn't even bother -- mostly Philly kids for him) and it's even more shameful.
That was the greatest era in college basketball history since the 1970's. Even the Great UCLA teams [with all due respect to Legendary and Great John Wooden] did not have the comradery as the Big East Wars produced. St Johns were bigger than the Knicks in those days. Someone asked what happed to them. I actually asked that question since like '94.
Man! I remember being a young kid and the Biggest GTown fan ever! I loved this era of Big East Basketball! The excitement and the rush of these battles were just thrilling during the Big East Power hold on the college basketball scene. I did't have cabel so I would watch the sorry ass Knicks to get the scores and update. I remember this was the biggest game going at the time! No one even cared that the NBA was playing that night! GTown Forever! We still miss you Michael Graham!!!
the beginning of 3 straight beatdowns of the greatest redmen team ever.this game the hoyas rolled by 16,the next the be final 10 days later by 12,and the ncaa final four by 18!biggest mismatch between the 2 best teams in college.1 QUESTION...how the hell did st.john's beat them at all?did the hoya bus show up 10 minutes into their first game?lol
Best rivalry in the Big East in the 1980's, they were like the Redskins-Giants.

SJU needs to take their conservative asses out of their heads and recruit top notch players - who cares if they leave early, it's publicity for us!
