The way she throws herself at the mud and the simplicity of the dog's curiosity trying to comfort her is haunting. I personally think this is the saddest part of the film next to her being raped in the bathroom by her pimp. "you can't buy my heart and soul". The difference with European cinema is that they use music for momentum. The music in this is half the film I feel. This movie will haunt me forever in every good & bad way imaginable.

I think you may be right... the way lilya says she met the boyfriend on the internet only a little bit before they left, makes me think she met the same fate (sold into prostitution) as lilja... and infact her leaving lilja is meant to b directly parallel to when lilja leaves volodja... The only thing that makes me wonder is her mom is not hot at all, why would they want to make her a prostitute.
