I know some of yall are saying that this was going to teach you but it says Back Flip with Full Twist is didnt say "How" Im not trying to be mean though
As with other viewers I dont think this prtovides any coaching tips. Krista has a great full twist - as do many of my gymnasts - but how does this help a junior coach? George - your usually terrific - this one was just self indulgence....
@toniatonne I agree - she has a lovely twist - so do many of my gymnasts - George is a brilliant coach but this does seem to be just showing his gymnast off - doesnt provide any coaching assistance
Sorry this video doesn't explain exactly how to learn a full twist. Krista had just come back from Moscow finishing 32 in the World Age Group Games. Thought it was worth showing how a top trampolinist & coach train.
sometimes young coaches miss the forrest for the trees. We do similar drills and they really make a difference in the timing of the twist. In addition to the drills on this video, our gym works repetitive tucked fulls for skills like full-ins and full-outs.
mmm... i've been involved with gymnastics for a very long time. i implement a significant amount of trampoline/tumble track work into my gymnasts workouts for the sake of air sense. in many situations, this involves using the bungee. i agree that repitition is important, however, this video does little to explain the execution of the actual skill.
apologies...I wasn't clear. Not so much repetition, but moving in and out of a the full. Doing a back tuck, punch tucked full, punch back tuck or 3 tucked fulls in a row forces the athlete to initiate the flip before the twist as well as prepare for a proper landing.
That is all the video is showing. I prefer the tuck position because I believe it reinforces a good body position for full ins. We then do standing tucked fulls to the back on tramp before flipping.
apology accepted. you might find this wierd, but i never start my athletes with tucked full ins. i find that it is much easier for them to get a piked full in by throwing high layout fulls to their backs (onto a resi) and immediately lifting their hips to candlestick position. ive found that piked full ins are a lot more forgiving. a lot of athletes including myself have difficulty maintaining the tucked (knees to chest) position when twisting. it's a lot to think about.
I am only guessing here, but maybe the title gives a clue that one should already know how to do a full before working on perfecting them. I saw another video this guy did that explains how to do a full. If you would like more help, email me and I will send you a few ideas.

George coached me on occassion when I was Krysta's team mate. He is really good at training us to prepare for competition.
Our coach Mig was the one who worked with us on a day-to-day basis and actually taught us our skills. She deserves credit as Krysta's coach.
Cheers to Richelle, Lisa, Sergei and all the other Legacy T&T folks!

it'll make sense if you just change the title, change it to "Perfecting a Back Flip with Full Twist on Trampoline - George Hery"
