has any one of you thought that it was ridiculous for a ship to engage warp engines on a planet? If entering the atmosphere causes friction heat, FTL travel will just disintegrate the ship.

@HellecticMojo Warp doesn't move the ship through space, it moves space around the ship. It "warps" space.

Then there is the problem of gravity. There are science on how dissapearance of the moon will screw up the earth, can you imagine the effect of such a warping of space and time through gravity on a localized area?

I know this is fiction, but still a localized warping within an atmosphere sounds... dangerous.

@nexus1g Even by containing the warp, you inherently affect the surrounding area. Like a bubble of air moving through water. The transfer of space from one place to the next, leaving a gap for the universe to fill. You cant take space and just transfer it without side affects.

I like the Starcraft 1 cutscenes more...they were grittier.

These SC2 cut-scenes are ok, but they're basically just the game engine rendered models/actions with a cartoony feel to it.
