@BoomFire4 Bungie usually gave a lot more deep and obscure publicity before the game to bring older audiences to the game... and then made the game a lot lighter and colorful so Younger players (and parents) would play without the DARKNESS and VIOLENCE of war and the feeling of humanity at the brink of extinction.

Yeah, Mech610 is right. They believe that a SPARTAN (Master Chief) should never die, since SPARTANs were super-soldiers, never falling in battle. The Master Chief's body was lost (seen on Halo 3), and they made a memorial to honor him. So of course, the body was never in the coffin they made years later. The Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson met months before the end of the 28 year old war. They weren't always side-by-side in the remaining months of the war... Everyone just believed in the Chief.

The only thing that ever turned the tide of said extinction were the Spartans. A single Spartan could turn the tide of any battle. That's why when a Spartan was killed they would never list them as KIA(Killed In Action), they would only say they were MIA(Missing In Action). Spartans never die, there just missing in action.
