"bill haley got the first no i rocknroll hit" He had the first number 1 on the pop charts with a rock and roll performance. "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston was number 1 on the R&B charts in 1951, and "Good Rockin' Tonight" by Wynonie Harris was number 1 on the R&B charts in 1948.
Bill still sounded great. Ironic, of course, that he sings a song that was a Top Ten R&B hit for Jimmy Preston in 1949, and then is called the man who started it all.
He rocked out to his very last year, his soul and music will roll on forever!

One of rock and roll's absolute masters, and for my money, this was his masterpiece. God bless him! He is greatly, greatly missed.

Yes I agree.
Two years later Bill was gone.
Just read a book about him by John Swenson from 1982.
Very exciting.

That's because Jimmy Preston's version was R & B and Bill Haley's was pure Rock N' Roll.
