@Triumph72 Found it. Thanks. I don't really mind the original "Blue Flower" or Slapp Happy's female singer, but I too prefer Mazzy's. It's hard for any singer to eclipse Hope's talents, to my ears, anyway! Without hearing the whole song, it's still unknown whether Slapp Happy nicked Lou's guitar solo, or if it was David 's doing. Oh well, it's not exactly a crucial issue!

Nice song, great singer, definite Velvet Underground influence, including a straight lift of a guitar solo from VU's "I'll Be Your Mirror". The solo David plays starting at 2:50 has 10 or 11 notes in a row, note-for-note identical to Lou Reed's VU song solo! Mazzy plays it an octave lower. Oh well, it's not as if Mazzy's the only band in the world that "borrows" from their heroes' songs. It's very common, really. They're forgivable. Especially as Hope's singing's better than Nico's or Lou's !

@Triumph72 Yeah, after I wrote that post I learned Blue Flower's a cover of a song by '70s band Slapp Happy, as you say. I tried to find the original to see if it's Slapp Happy that "borrowed" Lou's solo, or if possibly VU fan David Roback added it, but it''s a hard to find song & I never found it.

Sure it's easy to be distracted by Hope's looks, but that girl is a real pro with an amazing vOice which i loved long before i saw her, i've never seen her off key, off timing etc - and she's got a great feel for the vocals. Great band , great singer.
