@TheNinjaSpaceman you know it's so weird, i thought of dexter immediately, although really the ONLY similarity is in learning how not to get caught - i mean martin drinks blood and is very old, kills women for food - Dexter is a serial killer who works for the cops & ONLY kills serial killer (or people who deserve it like pedo's predators) I think it's partially because the actor here resembles the young Dexter portrayed on the show

I really hope they never remake this brilliant cult classic. How could anyone ever equal, let alone top Amplas's amazing performance in it? Some movies are just a little too precious to be tampered with and this is certainly one of them. If it does get remade though let's all just hope that Romero is involved with it.

@Johnlindsey289 Yes, The Crazies was definitely one of the better remakes that's ever been made and Romero, no doubt, had a lot to do with it. And no, Martin isn't the only vampire ever permitted to cry or have emotions. Even Dracula was capable of feeling love and shedding tears, after all. Martin is a much more complex and realistic teenage vamp than Edward Cullen though. He has no supernatural characteristics or abilities whatsoever, and relies soley on his own cunning and wisdow to survive.

Excellent vampire movie! this movie was proof that Martin was the first Emo vampire. And if you thought Twilight had bizarre vampires, check out Lifeforce, The Hunger, Near Dark, Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, and Immortality aka Wisdom of Crocodiles which featured "different than the norm" vampires before Twilight.

Not all vampires drink blood because there are many species of vampires in world legends such as Africa to all the way to Asia even in Australia. Trust me, i'm a true vampire expert who knows about other vampires than one single well known kind as there are even vampires who suck your youth/energy/soul/lifeforce out instead of your blood like Asian to Japanese vampires do. The movies Lifeforce, Captain Kronos, Sleepwalkers, Eclipse, etc. was about these kinds of vampires.

This is my favorite Romero movie and I don't even know how many times I've watched it. Yes, I do own it as well.

I've always enjoyed true crime and reading about serial killers and was never a big fan of vampire flicks and started to wonder if Martin is truly a SK and not really a vampire, but takes on the persona (believes) he is one. This also due to family paranoia.

I believe it was the 70's where the term serial killer was penned. Seems fitting to me at least.
