  • can i ask what song is this?

  • LA FOLLIA

    my obsession

Daniel, are you going to teach La Follia further on at intermediate (or whatever is up above begniners) level? Pleeeeze?? :)

    M. :)

  • Thank you for posting. Is there footwork for the second variation available and other variations as well?

  • Actually this video shows the first 3 variations of the Folies. I will look through my videos and see if I can post a full body view that shows all the variations. Thanks.

  • Thank you dear LaBelleDance it would be very kind from you. All 32 variations are staged?

  • No indeed. However there are several different variations of the Folies d'Espagne. The most common one, a solo for a woman (Feuillet, 1700) is comprised of 6 variations. These also exist as a duet, same steps.

There is also a male solo comprised of 4 more complex variations, and another from an undated manuscript with 9 variations. Also quite virtuosic.

Therefore the maximum number of variations performable would be 19. However, the dancers might be quite tired at the end. :)

  • Thank you for informing. I have seen restored and performed by Natalie van Parys and there were only 11 or 12 variations. So, I had though that there were sources for all variations but only the part had been restored till I found the details of the survived sources from you.

  • We've posted a video showing the whole body view of the Folies. It also incorporates 2 variations from a French sarabande. It's posted on our page now.

  • It's a pity we miss some of the footwork, but otherwise very nice...

  • Thank you for your incisive, well thought out and respectful critique. Perhaps you would have enjoyed it more if Al Bundy were dancing. Ah well.

  • Thats the best reply I ever seen in Youtube!

Anyway nice dancing but the quality of the music can be a little better.

  • Excellent! Very well executed.

  • Very nice :) . Greetings from Chile.
