@paiges38 They won because Mustafina was carrying that team. Mustafina killed the US, her teammates just tagged along. She was the only Russian to do well in the AA and EFs, whereas the US had strong showings from Sacramone, Sloan, Bross, and Raisman in event finals.
Also, keep in mind that Matties fall was the equivalent of 2 falls, since she lost a point off the D score. Russia didn't kill anyone, as a team.
@ItsNastiaFan101 The Russians had many individual talents on the team who performed well in the tf but not in the aa or ef, nabieva scores pretty well on her amanar (however ugly it is) ana and ksenia S. are beautiful on beam but ana fell in the ef, on fx, ksenia A did a wonderful routine during the tf but fe during the ef
@paiges38 You also don't seem to remember that Russia was given 4 tenths of D score they did not earn. Mustafina was given a 6.2 on BB for a set out of 6.0, and Afanasyeva 5.8 for a routine out of 5.6.
@ItsNastiaFan101 what makes you think they were given extra points to their D score? (I realize when you read this it sounds like I'm being really snotty but a lot of sentences translate funny in text and when I ask what I did above, I'm not trying to imply that your wrong, I'm just curious because I've never heard anything of them getting .4 extra)
@paiges38 Mustafina and Afanasyeva were given credit for elements they did not complete, whereas other gymnasts had those elements downgraded as they deserved. Mustafina was given the 3/1 that wasn't fully rotated, and Afanasyeva was given credit for her double turn with the leg at horizontal when her heel dropped long before she reached two revolutions.
Wow, the Russians killed us this year... I underestimated them, but they're fantastic.

@ItsNastiaFan101 I know that technically they were 'barely' beating us, but they won a lot of the 'important' finals that we got 2nd or 3rd in.
