What a nice surprise to find this Big John Patton live clip! Thanks for posting!
This is a great performance from start to finish. The guys in the band are not overdoing their solos, but instead keeping it controlled and groovy all the way. And nice arrangement of the song.
Ah! I wondered how long it would be before someone posted this. My own VHS copy has seen better days. Good old Big Bad John. He really has his own thing going on and most importantly, his own sound. Would love to see some 60s footage, particularly from his "That Certain Feeling" period. God bless him.
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks Mike for posting a long over-due look at one our greatest jazz organists. John was an American treasure who dared stray from the Jimmy Smith sound to create his own unique groove.
Awesome! Is there anymore from this show amywhere?

It's great to seen Big John in action. Too bad the guitarist kind of sucks.

Great FUNKY 'stuff' from Big John!
Nice sax & trumpet work!

One of the most underrated organist of his time. Patton allowed songs to 'breathe," and most importantly didn't overplay.
