  • How long can you keep the ember in there for?

  • @everfish I suppose as long as you like, but make sure it has fuel obviously.

  • Interesting. Thanks!

    CIAO

  • What kind of shoes are those? Did you make them? I was trying to find a simple shoe to make myself.

  • @Adahy1 Yes I did make them, I had some scrap hide splits laying around when I was in Montana, so I put together a pair of woodland style moccasins. They've since been worn literally into the ground.

  • Thanks

  • nice

  • Cool video Owen.

    I like your hat.

    =]

  • How long can you carry your ember using that method (bowl) ?

  • as long as it has fuel. i often carry polypore fungus and put small pieces in to keep it going

  • WHAT IF U HAVE NO POCKETS

  • @DIGITZOO you die.

  • so have you ever spend a week with nothing but what is in your pockets? soon im going to try it. do you do this stuff often?

    from: draconis93

  • @draconis93 yes, I usually don't look to my pockets for survival tools though. Too much valuable materials outside my pockets.

  • nice voyager cap.

    and nifty vid

  • thanks :-) My friend made it for me

  • Thx... im making a bow drill right now.. but the problem is that there is snow outside, making everything wet. can i replace the dry grass, etc. for cotton? i heard cotton was highly flammable..

  • yes, cotton will work. just dont use anything synthetic.

  • Ok thanks much!

  • where can i find tinder?

  • dried grass, dried bark, shredded pine needles even. anything fiberous and dry.

  • if your pottery seems a little fragile even though you fired it, you can add some "grog" by grinding some of a brick, or granules of previously fired pots that have broken ito the raw clay... look into it if you havent already... greatly strengthens clay

  • Show us more of what you do to survive in the wild. Did you make the bowl?

  • Yes, I used clay found in my back yard actualy. It was almost a pure white clay too. I fired it a few times to get it to harden up to an aceptable level.

  • great debris hut owen, i would like to see more videos from you regarding your shelter...

dont stop there, show us the ember!

that hickory torch i was telling you about is another great way to carry the fire to and from camps... especially if you arer walking after dark ;)

  • Well, since theres interest, I'll make a video of me using the method I talk about. I'll see if I can make a torch or two and demonstrate that to in another video. I my have to space it all out a bit. So much for only 10 minutes per video!

  • well dont stop there!!! show us!

hey owen, great debris hut bro...

  • sorry if the sound and video arent synced up, I'm not sure whats wrong with it.
