I think what you fail to acknowledge is that there is a possibility (a very large one i might add) that Jesus did not perform any miracles.. Furthermore you say he 'died for our sins'... what exactly would have happened had he not died? Would we have been 'smited' by God? Would he flood the earth? I think what you fail to acknowledge is that there is a possibility (a very large one i might add) that Jesus did not perform any miracles.. Furthermore you say he 'died for our sins'... what exactly would have happened had he not died? Would we have been 'smited' by God? Would he flood the earth? @mddarch2 This is better. It is good that you understand that books do have value. The real issue you point to is whether certain books make sense. This is a complex question. Conclusions regarding the sensibility of books ought to be carefully considered. The 66 books of the Bible each deserve careful thought and study. Facile judgments should be avoided. The literature is immense and varied. What may be said about its poetry should not be necessarily pronounced about its history, etc.

@brotherfrank62 I do not believe the Bible commands us to speak the same thing. One of its writers made an observation at one point that a local church had members who were speaking the same thing. This does not mean every uttered syllable is similar. People will mature, abandoning cherished beliefs for new ones. No one is perfect. We do change. Jesus came to cause divisions. Surface agreement is a sign of DEATH. One of the greatest signs of true life is that people are DISAGREEING.

And 1 Corinthians 14:37 says that everything I write are the commandments of God. 2 Timthy 2:15 says study to show yourself approved unto God. No every word don't have to be( I say peter you say Peter) but it should all be in agreeance. yes we do mature but there is no other gospel or cherished beliefs, read Galatians 1:6-12.

I believe the only time all of us will come into absolute agreement is when we see Jesus face to face. Until then, our ability to embrace the contraries among us will be a sign of life among us. @brotherfrank62 Even within a local body of believers, the ability to absorb questions and alternative ways of thinking is healthy. The silencing of oppositional voices is not always a good thing. The church must learn how to accept criticism and even how to critique itself. Transformation is an ongoing thing. Elders should not be rebuked openly, unless it can not be helped. None of us is always right, except the Lord Jesus. All must be humble enough to receive correction, reproof & rebuke.

He told his followers that his kingdom was not of this world and his servants should not fight. Jesus taught that his followers should not participate in wars of this world. But the stance he called them to meant that they would be pitted against members even of their own families. Even in the church, those called to Jesus must sometimes be oppositional.

This is why teachers in the body of Christ must create environments of openness, encouraging Christians to question perspectives in loving ways, to offer other ways of seeing. The way that we all come to a common view is by SHARING. Teachers are students. All of us add to the mix. Some questions remain unanswered. Thus we grow TOGETHER.

The verse from the Quran(Surah 9:5) that is mentioned at 4:55 is talking about pagan idolaters that broke the peace treaty they had with Prophet Muhammad and wanted to fight Muhammad and his followers. If you look at the verses below in (Surah 9:6-7) You will see that Allah says if there are pagans that seek your protection from the fighting,then grant him protection and escort them to where they will be secure. It is also instructed to stay true to the covenant a long as they are true to you.

Because God is the AUTHORITY. He created men and women, and he made the LAWS. God had a reason to exterminate them as seen in (1Sm 15:2) for what the Amalekites had done to the Israel.

I felt much more comfortable with the Quran as I read it in Arabic and understanding everything. by the way.. bible mentioned about killing women and even children (Numbres 31:7) (1 Samuel 15:3) etc. I read the Quran every single day and I dont feel anything but love.
