Even if a Silat exponent beats a Shaolin Kung Fu exponent, this can only mean that the particular Silat exponent is more well trained and more experienced than the Shaolin Kung Fu exponent. It should not be taken as a generalization of the efficiency of the martial art itself.

I think when you say Shaolin, you mean those modern Wushu monks, rite? Well, yeah, as a practitioner of traditional Kung Fu myself, I myself still doubt their fighting capabilities. No doubt that these people are quite fit and can do some incredible physical feats though.
@Skillking22 Yea man basically most if not ALL shaolin "monks" are modern wushu guys in monk robes so its pretty hard to tell yea, but i know real shaolin monks masters are like shi dejian , shi yan lei shi yan zi and lastly shideyang most of them are fraud too though, but these few teach real traditional kung fu like what u have learnt maybe. After all u see REAL gung fu has hardly any flips rite? only real practical techniques like wing chun ,choi li fut, hung ar ( all too are shaolin styles)
Also wang bo is really good. I heard it yesterday from a good friend. He asked the guy who trained Shifu Wang Bo in wing chun. He said that wang bo is a really skilled in traditional shaolin combat. =)

All the few real monks can fight for sure. (all of them knows 1 or more styles with the hidden combat techniques.) I heard all of them have to master 2 styles.

He teached him in wing chun, because wang bo was in austrailia for a few time or so. Wang Bo teached him also a few things.
Remeber wang bo was a real monk for a very long time. Mostly when he was not on the shaolin tour, he trained, trained, studied buddhism, trained, etc...

I have a fren his youtube username is "brooklynmonk" his real name is antionio graseffo or something hes been to the shaolin temple to trian for 6 months and he said ONLY and strictly with his boxing skills hes able to defeat almost ALL the monks there, he also stated that only the monks that can fight are the sanda team guys.
@Skillking22 sanda is chinese kickboxing . I too was shocked when heard this but yea its true coz i got his book called " warrior odysesy" try to find it in bookstores near you. Pretty good book by him of his experiences with various martial arts but mostly MT, bokator , krave maga and chinese MA like shaolin etc. Though he said that shaolin has one of the toughest training ,stil hes able to win , no shock after all almost all of them just train to perform , and those stuf requires alot of

Towards the end of Bruce Lee's life he start to do his research on Silat because he has high respect on martial arts and discover certain excellent trade in Silat knowledge, and I have to admit to learn Silat, one MUST BE HUMBLE, NOT/NEVER to show off - even if challenge, be respectful of others. do read and comment on how much Bruce Lee, dan Inosanto and other talk highly of silat. i don't know about that. maybe its the person who describes this video who's at fault saying that this is the best martial art. i don't believe that there is the ultimate martial arts. cause different people will suit different art. it is only up to you to know how to use it. so at the end of the day, it'll only depend on how good the practitioner is and not how good the art is. :)

@MechPhantom He write that wang bo knows traditional shaolin combat techniques from some styles. (not wing chun)
He teached him in wing chun, because wang bo was in austrailia for a few time or so. Wang Bo teached him also a few things.
Remeber wang bo was a real monk for a very long time. Mostly when he was not on the shaolin tour, he trained, trained, studied buddhism, trained, etc...

He performs yes , but u can tell his performance are very traditional and never fancy , unlike wang bo , wang bo is very fancy more modern like so yea thats why many people suspect even me , says wang bo is modern wushu guy, i tend to agree.

@Skillking22 Still yea i respect them for what they can do , coz its not easy to do all those feats , but yea like you me too i doubt their fighting skills. I have a fren his youtube username is "brooklynmonk" his real name is antionio graseffo or something hes been to the shaolin temple to trian for 6 months and he said ONLY and strictly with his boxing skills hes able to defeat almost ALL the monks there, he also stated that only the monks that can fight are the sanda team guys.

@Skillking22 sanda is chinese kickboxing . I too was shocked when heard this but yea its true coz i got his book called " warrior odysesy" try to find it in bookstores near you. Pretty good book by him of his experiences with various martial arts but mostly MT, bokator , krave maga and chinese MA like shaolin etc. Though he said that shaolin has one of the toughest training ,stil hes able to win , no shock after all almost all of them just train to perform , and those stuf requires alot of

@Skillking22 silat gayong malaysia silibus was expanded by mahaguru because of the attractions that taekwondo and karate have.the basic silibus,maybe quite similar,with linear punches,basic blocks and basic set of kicks.the real gayong will be teach to students red belt and above.unfortunately,only muslim is allowed to do so.those level above red rarely shown and famously named Serangan Bapak Harimau or ilmu Yoi. legendary techniques such as Kipas Senandung will be teach only to black belts

Do read and check Bruce Lee's honest comment and Dan Inosanto opnion on Silat. Towards the end of Bruce Lee's life he start to do his research on Silat because he has high respect on martial arts and discover certain excellent trade in Silat knowledge, and I have to admit to learn Silat, one MUST BE HUMBLE, NOT/NEVER to show off - even if challenge, be respectful of others. do read and comment on how much Bruce Lee, dan Inosanto and other talk highly of silat. Either way all arts are good ;)

@dimmaculate Wushu? Hah. Just because I'm Chinese doesnt mean I use wushu. Yes, I agree wushu sucks. Before the revolution in China,martial arts florished, The Communists closed down all martial art schools and generalised them into wushu,that sucks. I practise Jeet Kune Do as my main fighting style. With experience in BJJ, taekwondo, and muay thai. And did I say Silat sucks? No I did not. Im saying that complicated=time wasting.

i don't know about that. maybe its the person who describes this video who's at fault saying that this is the best martial art. i don't believe that there is the ultimate martial arts. cause different people will suit different art. it is only up to you to know how to use it. so at the end of the day, it'll only depend on how good the practitioner is and not how good the art is. :)

yeah. i heard of that story. but we don't know for sure what really happen. i'm a silat practitioner too fyi. one bout doesn't mean that that practitioner is good. it also doesn't show that silat triumph over jeet kun do. its still up to the practitioners. agreed?:)

Every martial art have its on pros and cons. Learning multiple Martial arts increase your instincts level also your style. Its not the art which is superior, its about whether you are able to use the art to its maximum potential... ;)
