I also just received the Possessions book from Amazon and got the same cover as you did. I also hate the cover and was annoyed when Amazon sent me this cover. They really should sort it out because there are a lot like you upset about the cover

The mark on the top of The Host is a remainder mark. Booksellers mark new books so that they are no longer in new condition. Very stupid practice. Was it purchased through the marketplace? You can't blame Amazon for that. Sometimes Amazon shows the book as bargain price - then it can have a remainder mark and shelf wear. I rarely buy the bargain price books because of that.
I love the Morganville Vampires series. I didn't like Kiss of Death at all though. It was probably the only book in the series I didn't like. I love the Vampire Academy too. I can't wait for the new series by Richelle Mead to come out. I so sorry about the Possession cover. I'm a cover whore too.

Wow, that was big! Oh my gosh the VA series is absolutely amazing!!! And does the morganville series get any better? I'm in the middle of the second bind up and it lagging for me. Oh my gosh, I LOVE the host! I can't wait for the next book, "the soul" to come out! It will probably be all about Wanda! :)

Actually the possessions book cover that is displayed on amazon is the newest cover of the book. The one you have is the old copy of the book.
