Thanks for the praise! I guess my tip is to just keep playing--I don't really feel that I practice, but I do play along to things all the time, usually improvising.
I wish that Ocarina had subholes that worked properly, I would consider getting one if it did. It sounds lovely and so much better than my Forte Triple.
Yes but IMO, reducing breath pressure to nearly nothing is bad design.
Take Sub's video of Via Dolorosa, he perfoms brilliantly, but has to cut his breath to nearly nothing and also titls the Ocarina towards him to get the A required.
By owning a Forte Triple and a WPN Double I can see that the Subholes are much better on the Forte, with less of a breath cut needed.
Really? I have a Focalink Double Alto G now, and it's the same way. You have to slash your breath quite a bit to get the correct pitch on the lowest note.
This is nothing new. I've been collecting ocarinas for ten years now, and even my nicest handmade Japanese ocarinas use varying degrees of reduced breath on the lowest notes. Embrace it - learning to control your breath pressure is a fundamental part of becoming a better ocarina player! : )
heh, news travels quick on youtube! Thanks, but I'm about to pull it down--it didn't go up in high def and I really want the stereo. After getting that triple, I understand that you made it look easy!
Waw, awesome.

Damn !! Your good. I have no choice, I must sub you now. :)
I've been messing around with Smule's Iphone Ocarina, for a few months now.
While checking out YouTube, I saw the triple ocarina, and was floored. I think I'll need to buy one now. :)

Wow you're a really talented ocarina player! I can see you have great skill and control over that triple. I'm surprised I haven't seen you yet!

just curious did you use the third chamber in this song?
masagamer 2 years ago
Nope--highest note is an A on the second chamber.

Zomg. You're extremely good.
I play the purple clay triple ocarina, too, but I'm nowhere near as awesome as you.
I want to become a better ocarina player. Your playing inspires me to get better. Seriously. I want to get my music to sound like yours someday.
Any tips?
Bolero of Fire is my favorite. :3 By FAR.

You have improved a lot!

LOL, the subholes work fine on this ocarina. You just have to reduce your breath a little for low A.

That's a -G- he hits down there, not an A ;)
But I do see your point, the A is a little soft (I tend to play Bb with both sub holes closed, so I'm probably not a good authority...)

bravo!!! are you playing form memory or sheet/tab?
again bravo!!
