  • "Doesn't it bother you that you put more logical thought into choosing a car than you do in choosing a god??" - Anonymous.

  • @TheoreticalBullshit you should have included the perk "staying in bed on sunday"

  • You have the ability to articulate important ideas.

  • Freedom from FEAR,GUILT SHAME AND SELF DENIAL for being human.

  • As an atheist you don't have to believe you're deserving of hell until "saved".

Also being able to have consensual sex without guilt and self loathing is nice. ;)

  • That was a very good answer.

  • I don't even like categorizing it. I was born without knowledge of any deities or religion, I obviously then later learned of said topics and pondered on it and decided to continue living a life without god and religion and I don't feel that my life is any different than any other type of average person except I have a lot more time to be productive on sundays and other days that would commonly be religiously committed.

  • i thought you didn't "beleive" anything? as you said in another video of yours..you question. and you question why GOD would send you to HELL because he understands you completely. HE WILL.

  • There is an advantage to being an atheist but living the 'noble lie' of pretending you believe, particularly if you wish to remain *happily* married and living with your children. All decisions are made in the margins. To promote happiness, well-being and avoid needless suffering I fake-the-funk. I've been out therew/my atheism before but had to pretend a 're'conversion to end the guilt trips and endless debates. I felt alone in a crowded room =/= happiness so YouTube is my outlet

  • @2thePoint911 You bow to lies so that you may continue to receive the love of friends who behave like enemies?

  • perks of being an atheist = if you dont believe in religion, then youre not lying to yourself

  • You look like corey feldman,

    very good video dude.

  • what ever happended to 'Thou shall not kill' lol

  • Very well put!!!

  • 3:23.

I almost fixed to argue that Christians do equally cherish their mortal lives (esp if they think not all of their loved ones are coming with them to heaven). Then I remembered a conversation I had with my Born-again mother when my sister wanted to go on a missions trip to Ghana. My dad was concerned for her safety. My mom said she'd be all right if my sister died because it would have been God's plan.

That's when I realized there was something seriously wrong with this religion.

  • You cant just judge God, religon or anything for that matter just bcos of what someone said about it which you didnt like, why not make carry out your own experience and come to your own conclusions,. What you are saying is just like saying "My sister got hit by a car so therefore, i will never use a car or get on a bus anymore". Maybe ur mum was trying to instill some courage into your father's and sister's heart. It doesnt mean dat all chrisitand must be killed 4 carrying out God's work.

  • im an atheist because i feel that there is no god, if i were christian id be a christian because i subscribe to christian ideology, and thats how it should be i think

  • You are an atheist bcos you FEEL that there's no God, wow i cant believed you choosed what you want to based your belief on just bcos you had a FEELING. You have to be SURE of something before you make any decisions in life mate. Such decisions that involve your soul and spiritual life should not be decided by the way you feel, it should be decided by what you know and are sure of.

  • I agree with that. The truth is above all. Perks are not the deciding factor and never should be.

  • If you are christian, and cannot stand your family, do you still have to spend all eternity with them? I'd prefer hell (with all the crying and teeth mashing,...lol).

Personally, I refuse to believe in heaven or hell for a number of reasons including, what little I know of heaven and Christianity, there will not be much to look forward to. You cannot smoke, drink, or, more important, (in my perverted perspective) have sex. What is there to look forward to without sex, and passion?

  • i feel if you love yourself, you love your family, have good morals. what is the need for religion? and CHURCH i never understood the need for a church and why are there so many?

  • @goyte229, yeah i agree with you, its good to love yourself and you family, as well as having good morals. But what about the salvation of your soul, am not saying your life is an utter waste without God, but how do you survive and grow spiritually without God, cos without God in you, the enemy messes up with you. I know you may not understand wat i mean, but understanding spirituality and God enlightens you mind about this things, things that are not viscible to the ordinary eyes.

  • @theaccousticaddict You can definitely be a spiritual person without belief in God. A quick and easy example: Buddhist monks. Many devote their whole lives to spiritual growth without belief in any god.

  • @KitSays But they also believe in a lot of other things that cannot be proven to be true, like reincarnation.

  • @GermyJer That is true. However I still know many people who are very spirtual without belonging to any religion.

  • Are you mad, there are great perks - Look at God - he doesn't believe in a higher being and he can get up to all sorts of shit - Killing, laying waste, Banging Josephs wife, Murdering his own son, Genocide by proxy, Raining sulphur (my personal favourite) - probably because no one ever wrote down a set of rules for him to follow. I personally drink, take drugs, go whoring when ever financially possible, lie cheat steel, usurp my boss, I'm a coveting maniac, Its freedom baby - no rules.

  • Then say there nothing beneficial to atheism. You got nothing but damnation

  • and you are going to hell according to everyone else.

    welcome to atheism

  • You are going to hell. the holy ghost cant save you from shivas ghostbuster bitch slap.

But really, there isn't anything you are saying to me that other people are not saying about you. The fact is, your religion is wrong according to all the other religions and saying my religion is right, with nothing but words and no evidence will get you no where.

Its your job to bring people to god, yet you refuse to do it.

  • What is your standard of "truth"?

  • is this a real question? define truth?

  • Your pretty interesting w/out being offensive. Many ppl on here are so offensive and stupid. The perks of being a Christian are eternal life. the perks of being an Athiest are the big sleep, I guess.

To keep it simple. But at least you are being honest and so many ppl are not in the world. It is a good trait to have. I hope you find what your looking for, Good luck.

  • what reliable non biblical evidence is there for the validity of faith i can't think of any

  • What exactly do you consider the "spiritual side of life" to be? and what is this plan that god has for us? Lets cut the bullshit and ambiguity, do you really have any more of an idea than any one else or are you just kidding yourself?

  • at least he has an idea of what life should be and isn't afraid of a mob of retards telling him he is going to go somewhere unless he gives in to something elses demands.

If its the christian god, and it is real and just, then it will accept our free will and accept those that live "good" lives by their own choice with no fear of damnation.

  • Who me or Johnolby?

I think your idea of the christian god is quite contrary to what the bible actually says the christian god is. It's pretty clear on non believers. If you however want to come up with some abstract idea of god then sure, your idea could work.

  • I think my idea of the christian god is not explained in my short bit of dialoge. My idea of the christan god was given to me by christan pastures/church members. So, I think its pretty accurate.

Then I read and did a little study myself to form my own opinion. And decided that there was no possible way that this book wasnt writen by people to control people.

And so, the only god that can currently exist for me and anyone else who THINKS ABOUT IT, is an abstract god.

  • "the only god that can currently exist for me and anyone else who THINKS ABOUT IT, is an abstract god"

My idea is if the scriptures describe God A and my idea is i think i believe in God B (abstract god), God A does not exist. Personally I'm agnostic to the big god/gods question but to specific anthropomorphic gods which we have texts on I am a pretty blunt and to the point Atheist. I think it's a justified position, what do you think? Btw pm me, it's annoying going through comments.

  • Very well said.

  • Christianity isn't a quick fix... I live in fear everyday because i know God is a God of wrath I said this before. I know I'm a sinner and that scare's me. I know what I think, I know what I do, I know its wrong, I know God knows its wrong. I know I deserve to be punish. and if i dont ask for forgiveness then i will be.

  • WarrenBMyBaby

    what a load of bullshit

  • Hmm, that's an interesting way to think WarrenBMyBaby. And I can understand why you don't want your god figure to be wrathful or judgmental. But the truth is, he's the most judgmental person in the universe. Please answer me this, am I going to hell for being an atheist? How about being gay? Yes? Judgment. Please at least know that a judgmental god is a large fault. I don't believe in him, I go to hell no matter my prerequisites. I do believe him, I go to hell for being gay. Fair?

  • asking what atheism has to offer is showing selfishness which is what theists try and say that atheists are, if they are believing in god just so THEY can get something out of then THEY are the selfish ones. the question what do atheists have to offer is a selfish question indeed.

  • Good point. It also illustrates a neglect for truth. Asking for what perks a belief has to offer, circumvents the question if it's true or not. So, if someone's a Christian because of "the perks", then they're not Christian because they think it's true.

  • @savagemike90 So is christianity

  • love the video... you're very intelligent and reasonable... something that i believe religious people are NOT. well you pretty much covered everything else on my mind.

  • >>>therefore you dont even know that the questions your asking or the things you are "testing" are even correct or know what right or wrong is in any context!

  • You need to educate yourself on evolution by natural selection. It's NOT a random chance process, it's a process of "NON random survival" of living "codes". There definitely isn't enough room here to get into any detail about it - you should simply read a book on the subject. I assure you, you're quite confused, and you're going to have to actually READ such a book in order to properly clarify your thoughts.

  • My friend! The last comment I will make is that I have read many books and that I am actually quite well educated.I lived for many years with no real belief system therefore I am able to see/and have experienced both sides of peoples views/argument.

May I suggest that you do not get all your answers in life from "books" and there are many intelligent men and women who have lived there life according to both the evolutionist/creation theory's,and i can assure you "I am not confused"..peace!

  • I can honestly see your thinking, however, consider this -if we are here by way of random chance processes and there are no absolutes and man is a result of this, then would you not agree that our brains and our own thought processes are also just as random? Therefore the results you get from your "testing" must also be a product of randomness and therefore random!

  • The man looked at me,smiled, and said,'Maybe I should go home.'I stated,'Maybe it won't bethere.''Good point,'the man said.'What point?'I replied. This man certainly got the message. If there is no God, ultimately, philosophically, how can one talk about reality? How can one even rationally believe that there is such a thing as truth, let alone decide what it is?

  • "How can one even rationally believe that there is such a thing as truth, let alone decide what it is?"

Well you could start by testing it, examining the evidence and seeing if the results are reproducible.

  • On another occasion, a man came to me after a seminar and said, 'Actually, I'm an atheist. Because I don't believe in God, I don't believe in absolutes, so I recognize that I can't even be sure of reality.' I responded, 'Then how do you know you're really here making this statement?' 'Good point,' he replied. 'What point?' I asked.

  • The man looked at me,smiled, and said,'Maybe I should go home.'I stated,'Maybe it won't be there.''Good point,'the man said.'What point?'I replied..This man certainly got the message. If there is no God, ultimately, philosophically, how can one talk about reality? How can one even rationally believe that there is such a thing as truth, let alone decide what it is?..peace to all.

  • "If there is no God, ultimately, philosophically, how can one talk about reality? How can one even rationally believe that there is such a thing as truth, let alone decide what it is?"

One word - SCIENCE. We study things, and test them. If something cannot be studied, and/or tested, there simply is NO reason to believe it, until it can be studied and/or tested. Isn't that common sense???

  • I see no reason for believing that one accident should be able to give a correct account of all the other accidents...however,i understand you may not interpret this the same way as me! we all make our own choices and I still respect everyone regardless of what they believe because its not my place to judge anyone!

  • To say that Im not living my lift to the fullest because I hold out hope of an after life is ridiculous.

I am a Agnostic so I am not living in fear of hell and all that shit so maybe you are talking to christians on that issue but for me I going to live my life to the fulless and I still hope there is more after death as well.

  • If you're an agnostic, then you're probably an atheist as well. "A-theist" only means "without belief in a god".

Anyway, nobody can claim to live a fuller/happier/better life than anyone else. This stuff is all subjective, but I think atheism can provide a good philosophy in terms of motivation for doing so.

  • You should hear how arrogant you sound. How about posting a video to support this claim rather than assert it groundlessly?

  • ...Not sure what you're trying to argue, here.

  • I know what you're trying to argue. But you're full of shit. "Theism", by definition, is merely the BELIEF that a god exists. The word makes no reference to whether a god ACTUALLY exists. So tell me, how do concepts like "truth" and "real" derive from a position which seeks to do nothing but speculate on both?

  • @TheoreticalBullshit I think, As an athiest. That We all have one shot at life, We make it our best, thats why i dont smoke, or plan on smoking, i also am not greedy, nor i try not to be annoying. I enjoy swearing because it shows what im feeling or what i like to say out loud. I also believe that if i am affecting other people with hate, then i am affecting their life negatively and that life being their 1 shot at living. I respect that every1 has 1 life and any1 who kills deserves to be killed

  • @chavosucks But it's all hippocratic in the end due to who's killing the killer. If someone kills a killer, that in terms makes them a killer as well even if you think that its the "right" thing to do. It doesn't matter how you kill them, or help them get killed, you're still a killer yourself. So does that mean that you should be killed as well? It's a nonstop circle if we kill killers. It's meaningless.

  • section, 2

When i was younger i went to church for the holidays ie christmass, easter etc, i only like it because i got to sing...but the church i use to go to was cold built of stone it had no heating..i considered it a chore and i never understood what "God" would require its "people" to go to this literally cold hard place to worship him or her.

  • Actually you can meet anywhere to worship. Sometimes I do it alone at home. Sometimes I pray and read the Bible at home. Sometimes my roomates and I worship and pray together. I do enjoy going to church on Sunday. The people at the church I go to want to be there and enjoy worshipping God. I have been to churches where it is not this way. Just wanted to share to give another perspective. Thanks.

  • thats great...i don't have a problem with people that worship i just don't think people should worship because they fear punishment. If you enjoy it and you want to do it then more power to you. i just know there are those that feel as though it is nessasary and i don't beleive it is. thanks :O)

  • section,1

i agree, a person shouldn't beleive in something because of the perks.

did you know that in Egypt the pheros started religion based on fear, they said if the people did work hard enough for the gods they would not bless them with a good crop, how terrible is that.

  • ok i only have a 500 charactor allowance so i will post in sections.

  • great video, great points...peace
