  • HE IS THE BENEDICT

  • This version of the Litany of Saints is not the original as one has already pointed out. As beautiful as it sounds, I think it's too bad that a more modern rendition - one that breaks up the litany and actually lengthens it - is being preferred to the traditional version, and in the presence of the Pope himself!

  • ACK! This is so beautiful, but now that someone pointed out that they gave the wrong response, I can't listen to it anymore! All I can hear is them asking the Trinity to "pray for us!" Somehow I had missed it! :-( ignorance is bliss sometimes...

  • @chavousc I hope that's not the worst sin God forgives.

  • Why were they asking God in all his Devine persons to "pray for us".........who are They praying to??

  • @petermanz12 The crowd responded incorrectly. The first part of the prayer's response was supposed to be, "hear our prayer". We pray to God the Father, Jesus, His Son and the Holy Spirit. We ask others to pray for us, just like others who may ask you to pray for them.

  • @ticketoutofhere

The first part of the litany is actually supposed to be a repeat of each invocation (e.g., v. Lord have mercy, r. Lord have mercy, v. Christ have mercy, r. Lord have mercy, etc.).

  • er that should be XI

  • @JoshuaPadraig92 Pope Pius X saved the most jews. You know the person who pointed his finger at Pope Pius was German. Coincidence? Not in a million years.

  • o please help our family we need job

  • Such a beautiful voice

  • The true Litany of the saints is in Latin !

  • @MrBatti993

A prayer is a prayer no matter what language :)

  • @MrBatti993

A litany is a prayer with a recurring formula, and a prayer can be in any language. There's nothing wrong with an English litany

  • @MrBatti993 The true litany of the saints is in our hearts.

  • I agree@boerenfox.. We catholics ask for the intercession of the saints, angels and guardian angels to pray for us.

  • Viva a Igreja Católica.

  • @ waytopluto:

I pity you...something must be troubling your pour soul, enticing you to so much anger within. Thousands of people hate what the THINK the Catholic Church is, not even a handle of people hate the Catholic Church for what it truly IS. You are both arrogant and ignorant. I suggest you grow up and get off your high horse before it's too late and your thrown off by your blinded pride.

  • Thank-You for posting this; I think John Becker's version is simply beautiful, it was sung when I came into full communion almost ten years ago. Blessings.

  • @WAYTOPLUTO

Found a Bible passage from Romans that reminded me of you. Enjoy!

"Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made.

So they are without excuse ... Claiming to be wise, they became FOOLS."

  • @ChristianFirefighter I think you should stick you bible passage up your ass.

  • @WAYTOPLUTO

    WOW

Looks like that Bible passage was dead on.

    Incredible.

And with a despicable mouth like yours, what were the chances of that happening ...

  • @ChristianFirefighter What a stupid ass you are. It is expected from a follower of a stupid religion. Have you been molested yet?

  • Prefer the Latin Version Intoned by a priest!

    God Bless All

  • this is one of the best versions i have ever heard! i love it!

  • how can they ask the Trinity to pray for them?

    makes no sense to me

    some one explain that please

  • @iloveamerica007 They made a mistake. The people's response, at the beginning of the song, is supposed to be: Hear our prayer. The crowd got it wrong and then kept going with it. We have sung that at Mass and it really is supposed to be hear our prayer when they refer to any person in the Holy Trinity.

  • @iloveamerica007 It was a mistake, but they let it slide. It should be "hear our prayer" for anything with the Trinity. If this was meant to be a performance, they would have stopped and redone it. However, I think this video was taken more to document the event than anything else. You can tell that because the audio isn't cleaned up like it is on a CD.

  • This is one of the most spiritual days of my life. Amazing prayer and voice. Lifts you up.

  • we know from the pope's personal records that he covered for paedophiles and torturers while they raped againa nd again. He was concerned for the church instead of the children being raped by his priests. He should be on trial for the sake of all of those children who were abused in the catholic church.

  • @beradification Should a CEO be on trial because of the crimes committed by the employees in his corporation? I'm not saying it was right for him to cover it up. The Bible says to expose the sins of others rather than hide them. In today's world, we prefer to ignore the sins of others, either outright concealing them for the sake of reputation or dismissing them as being only the concern of the individual, the attitude of "It's not my business what you do."

  • Bryan, TX. A pastor was arrested and released from jail Monday night after he was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Ford was indicted earlier this month based on an allegation he had sexually assaulted a teenage boy who went on a trip with the pastor to the Texas Panhandle more than two years ago. Ford was pastor from the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan where he had served for 17 years. (Bryan-College Station Eagle, Dec. 24, 2002)

  • @ivanenrile Most people have no idea that the Protestant Church has a much higher percentage of this then the Catholic Church. We are just attacked because we are the largest Christian sect in the world. Over a billion and growing.

  • Fort Pierce, FL. Pastor Kenneth Johnson, recently convicted of having sex with a minor, and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church -- where he reportedly continues to minister -- were named in a sex-abuse lawsuit filed Tuesday. Johnson, 39, is scheduled to be sentenced Friday on one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He faces up to 15 years on the second-degree felony. (The Tribune, January 22, 2003) .

  • The Bible clearly states: Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church (1 Corinthians 14:34-35). "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SOLA SCRIPTURA DOCTRINE" HAHAHAHAHA

  • Protestant sects ordaining women pastors: The inclusion of women as spiritual elders, pastors, priests, and bishops in churches and denominations that claim to follow Jesus Christ continues to increase. The Washington Post reported June 19, 2006 that, “The Episcopal Church chose Nevada Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori as its leader yesterday, making her the first woman to head any denomination in the Anglican Communion worldwide.”

  • Lord God Bless your Church! The True, One Catholic Church!

  • @ivanenrile why do you lie to yourself...you idolize a man who you precieve to be closest to God.......when did jeremiah or elijah or isaiah or david run a band of boy touching priest.....NEVER

  • @mr44doom .when did the Pope start tolerating a band of boy touching priest? NEVER! But then again, where do you get your news sources? BBC, CNN? They are all so "HOLY and HONEST" eh?

So stop lying you HERETIC PROTESTANT WORM!

  • @ivanenrile your in denial so go ahead and follow a man i will follow the word of God...so the pictures of ratzinger as a hitler youth is a lie...oh wait what about ratzingers own sexual abuse cases frm the 70's i guess thats a lie too...and he does run a band of boy touching priest. try sitting for two hours and hearing thousands of victims testimonies...your cattle waiting for slaughter

  • @mr44doom LOL! Pope Benedict XVI WAS NEVER ACCUSED of any sexual crime. What a LIAR! DON'T You KNOW THAT LYING IS A MORTAL SIN? Meanwhile, why don't you look into your own backyard. Everyone knows about the sexual indiscretions and other acts of immorality perpetrated by your satanic protestant pastors. Go ahead follow the INTERPRETATIONS of the Bible by your illegal and heretical "associations" (I won't even call them churches); happy trip to hell.

  • @mr44doom By the way, your nickname suits you perfectly...

  • Sola Scriptura is a Man-made tradition. Protestants follow the tradition of men. Nothing in the Bible says that we should worship it, that it is the only source of our faith. Protestants are satanical. They follow the tradition of men, particularly those of Calvin, Martin Luther, etc.

  • @ivanenrile

I would not class them as Satanical, most of them a sincere and respect other people. Also protestant theology is flawed in many categories.

Luther was not sincere, he was pure hatred towards the Catholic church because of its authority it had. It got to a point that he added words to the bible for example in (Romans 3:28) he added "alone" which was not in the original greek scriptures. He also used the hebrew OT instead of the Greek OT. The Hebrew OT had books missing.

  • @mr44doom Oh of course, Pope Benedict was a member of Hitler Youth, because guess what? It was compulsory for all 14 years old German boys after Dec. 1939. Your satanic protestant pastors didn't tell you that eh? Also, the Pope's father was an archenemy of Hitler because he thought it conflicted with his Catholic beliefs. In 1941, one of Ratzinger's cousins, a 14-year-old boy with Down syndrome, was taken away by the Nazi regime and killed during the Aktion T4 campaign of Nazi eugenics.

  • @ivanenrile your an idiot guy. you yourself know the pope was a nazi youth....ratzinger was indoctrinated...the papacy itself was side by side with german nazi's there SATANIC LUCIFERIANS...what dnt you understand leave man and go to the God of Israel...read his word for yourself guy!and yes of course i have negative comments on my page there from muslims catholics and atheists....i leave the comments up there to show the fruits of each religon.Jesus is my pastor not a man

  • @mr44doom You didn't refute my arguments hahaha. Deo gratias! hahahaha. GO and CRY now...

  • @mr44doom

The Vatican did alot of during WW2 to protect Jewish people, that good in fact. The Chief Rabbi of Rome "Israel Anton Zoller" , converted to Catholicism after being touched by Catholic hospitality, and after studying Catholic theology ofcourse and accept Christ as Messiah, and what the Pope did to protect Jews.

Jesus is not your pastor, your false intepretation of scripture is your pastor.

  • @ivanenrile

Pope Benedict also ran away from Nazi Youth, but later on got captured.

  • @JoshuaPadraig92 your just blinded and my bible said satan would have you like that....im not going to argue on youtube with you...the time is around the corner but by the time you realize it you'll have the mark of the beast...and tell me where i mis interpeted scripture? you cant but i can tell you where you did....your faith is in a man my faith is in the living God....peace be with you

  • @mr44doom We will pray for you too. Christ died for everyone not just you and people who agree with you

  • @mr44doom By the way, I checked your profile. I looked at your comment wall and so there tons of hate messages against you. I didn't even read a single comment praising you for your model Christian virtue. LOL.

  • @mr44doom Jesus gave us his ONE, HOLY CATHOLIC Church, not the Bible. He gave us the Eucharist, not the Bible. The CHURCH GAVE THE WORLD THE BIBLE, not the other way around. It was the CHURCH, guided by the Holy Spirit and Christ's promise that the gates of hell will never prevail against her. I truly pray for your soul. Repent all ye PROTESTANT HERETICS

  • I say he's a cocklicker and loves little boyz butz

  • I wonder if your allowed to run over and give the Pope a big hug!

  • @assasincomedy yes you can. That's if you can go thru is security entourage. Many people did..no harms done. But they still have to try to protect the pope from the crazies.

  • ye all see a DEVIL before you who Blasphemeth the Father who's hand Was in the execution of our Lord and savior search the scriptures pray to Jesus for guidance

  • @mr44doom You're from...the Westboro Baptist Church?

  • the pope seemed extremely pleased!!!

  • God bless all catholics, Amem!

  • Holy moments...!

  • I got the text from that adaptation of the Litany.

Go see it (along with a vid using this music) on my YT channel ...

  • Does anyone where I can get a copy of the song sheet they used for that Litany? I can't quite make out all the names she's singing and I'd like to see them.

    Thanks!

  • @ChristianFirefighter

Search "Litany of the Saints by John Becker"

  • @173627 Already did that. John Becker's version differs greatly from the one sung here at the Youth Rally. But I contacted the woman who was in charge of all the music when the Holy Father was here, and got a copy of the adaptation they used directly from her. My post below states I made the lyrics available on my YT Channel, along with a modded version of this vid. Check it out!

  • @ChristianFirefighter

Well the invocations are different yes, but the music is still the same. I shall look at your channel though

  • I remeber this day! I got to celebrate my birthday at the seminary with the Pope! Not as good as the rapping Franciscans that day, but hey, I'll let this slide. lol Anyway, brings back a really good memory.

  • @HIMhorror Wow sounds like you had a great time! Good to hear!!!

  • You are incorrect. Christ founded the church when he charged Peter as the first Pope. A church is founded on spiritual conviction and charge from God not the physical or material establishment. Constantine only made it a state religion, the Catholic Church was already in existence for 325 years at that point. So yes, FACE THE FACTS not what you think!

  • You claim to be Catholic?

  • Any idea why they're asking God the Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit -- Holy Trinity one God "pray for us"? What's with that? It should be have Mercy on us, and the pope says nothing of this?

  • True enough. But this error I am sure is innocent, and it does not detract me from enjoying this beautiful performance and prayerful, powerful moment in 16's visit to the USA>

  • @iniquitatas where does it say that? it says jesus hear our prayer towards the end

  • @ iniquitatas - you are right, but what should the Pope do? Stop the whole litany and start overnew? The intention was good, the atmosphere was thrilling and Our Lord knows we are not faultless. :)

  • I was at this rally it was an AMAZING experience. I met a lot of other students and seminarians from around the country and arond the world.

  • I watched this on EWTN live that year!

I even took off work to see the Pope, even though I couldn't make it to NY or DC in person, I was still there in spirit!

    Thanks for posting.

    God Bless

  • This is simply a beautiful moment from a holy pope reaching out to a beleagured but soon-to-be-resurgent American Catholic Church. You will know a holy Mass by one thing, and that is reverence for the Eucharist. Don't worry about Latin, non-Latin, Tridentine, Novis Ordum (sp) et. al. Look to the Eucharist and if he is being worshipped with great love and faith. This is how we will always recognize a true Catholic Mass. And heed of Mother Teresa and reject Holy Communion in the hand!

  • this was actually half decent but I mean, come on its the pope! I was born catholic but I go to Orthodox church b/c I can't stand Catholic services...The Orthodox do every service with much more elegance, beauty, and reverence. I wish the Catholics would do the same but they don't, I don't understand it...if any one with insight can comment on this, i would appreciate. I'm not hating, respect to Catholic church, but this is my observation from all catholic services I have seen here.

  • First of all it is not a service it is the mass. And the usual Catholic Mass is much more reverend and orthodox nothing like this.

  • Personally I wish the five Patriarchs would reconcile their differences and unite once more as it was in the 1st-4th centuries. Constantinople, Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem, and Rome Orthodox and Catholic united as simply, the church once more.

  • I love the tradition in Latin also, but in Belgium we "mix"it

    sung in Latin, and Dutch.

  • Although I like this version, they should have chanted it in Latin. It wants the Pope Wants.

  • he does look bored. american singing prayers is really strange. i do believe there are devoded american christians but in common it's the usa that's responsible for most of the sadness around this globe.

  • Just Lovely-thank you, play this when I am worried, will leave a candle for you at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk on Sunday.

    David

  • Well isn't that nice and hypnotizing...and EVIL lol.

  • For the good order: roman-catholics do NOT pray TO Mary or to the saints. They ask them to pray FOR them.

Also for roman-catholics only prayer is to God (which is apparent in the trinity, as we know).

Thank you and greetings from the Netherlands.

  • @Boerenfox thank u!!!

  • thats my cousin singing! thats my cousin Christi! i remember she wanted me to go to one of her shows but i couldnt, yay Christi! cant wait 2 go swimming with u n Uncle Paul again!

  • We Protestants of course believe that the only mediator between man and God is Christ Jesus, according to the Scriptures which we believe is the only infallible rule of faith and morals.

I believe that to pray to men and women passed on is to attribute to them divine qualties - a kind of semi-omniscience which, of course, is an attribute of the Lord God alone.

Nevertheless, this is a lovely piece of music. If only it was a confirmation of doctrine instead!

  • You bring avalid point, but I believe that a better idea of our "prayers to the saints" is simply a request to have those who are alive in heaven to pray for us, just as we would have a family member or a friend pray for us. They aren't dead or passed on. They are alive and still with us, by the Grace of God

  • That's very true, Ironknight! Are you Catholic? because that is the very same point our priest brought up in his weekly homily.

But, at any rate, you made a good point there!

May God bless you, everyone here, and the Pope!

  • Well, can I ask you about St. Peter in Acts? On whose authority was he acting upon when he healed all those people?

  • My answer to this question would be: the same authority as that of all the other Apostles who also healed people - the authority of God.

  • protestant, beg forgivness for your pride and be obedient to the Catholic Church of Jesus Christ, the only church that shall never be overcome by hell

  • Actually, I think a better interpretation is that the gates of hell shall not prevail our attack. Gates are meant to defend a city - we're the ones attacking evil, not merely trying to defend ourselves...

  • your interpretation is utterly meaningless - personal interpretations often are. only Jesus Christ overcame death and evil and it is through Him that we work wonders.

  • Shanniquitie,

What I meant, trying to say in a nice way, is that I think the sense that you might be interpreting that particular verse is wrong, and "mine" is right. To say that the gates of Buckingham Palace will not prevail against the Muslims, says absolutely nothing (at all) about Muslims never failing. The object of failure is Buckingham.

Thus, the verse that the gates of hell shall not prevail says nothing about the Catholic Church never ending, merely we will be the hell out of hell.

  • The fact that Christ established the Catholic Church and promised to remain with us forever is what assures us His Church will never end.

  • protestants broke away from the Church and are damned

  • Then you are not in communion with your own bishops and pope, who have unequivocally stated that Protestants are "separated bretheren" who have high regard for the Word of God, and are saved. The majority of Roman Catholics would not agree with you on this.

It is in fact yourself who is out-of-step with the beliefs of most of your church.

  • Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus

  • Protestants also believe that outside the Church there is no salvation. The brilliant Calvin was quite adamant about this point.

However, as I said, read what Pope Benedict XVI has written in his encyclical "Dominus Iesus", and the Second Vatican Council declared in "Unitatas Redintegratio" regarding the way in which this term applies to Protestants.

Once again, you are in disagreement with your own bishops and the reigning Pope. This means you are not in conformity with your own leaders.

  • the doctrine operates within vatican council 2, it is for you to convert to the True Faith and, with humility, discern WHY they are both teachings inspired by the Holy Spirit within the One True Church.

  • You still don't get it. Your own bishops and popes do not hold that Protestants are damned, any more than they hold that the Greek Orthodox communion is damned. What you are trying to force upon us here is the opposite to that which the supreme teaching authority of your own communion has clearly said.

Hence the Pope meeting with the Archbishop of Canterbury in friendship and fellowship - sharing in worship etc.

  • Inevitably heretical groups (such as anglicans, lutherans and their descendants) must be restored to the Catholic Church.

  • Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

The Catholic church does not have the testimony of Jesus Christ, nor keep the commandments

  • the Catholic church is the only church of Jesus Christ. There is no other Justify it any way you like... you'll have to account for this before God, come judgment day.

  • Praise God!

Dear God always protect our Pope who leads the Catholic Church!

  • Although this is one of my favorite versions, this is a Papal Mass. It should have been done with men and in Latin.

  • i'm a tad confused.. how come when they called upon the trinity, we replied 'pray for us'? shouldn't the reply have been 'have mercy on us?' the trinity would end up praying to each other and themselves... i think. an explanation please?? lol thanks.

  • LOL I think it was simply a musical confussion... that's my guess though cuz i am also amazed! good point! God Bless You!

  • Angelic! And God bless the Pope!

  • This song is so beautiful. I first hear it at Easter Vigil on April 11th 2009 when I was Confirmed and received my Holy First Communion. I am a recent convert. I am finally home.

  • Welcome HOME.

  • I first heard it in April 2001, when I was received into the Church at the age of 44, almost 30 years to the day from when I was baptized

  • Just wanted to say Welcome.

The Eucharist, there is nothing that can compare to it.

Converts make the best Catholics. I will be praying for you.

  • That is so true. Converts also make the best Apologetics the defenders of the One True Faith.

  • Viva El Papa!

  • Long Live the Pope

  • amazing!

  • who arranged this version?

  • The Latin version is so pretty but as someone learning the Catholic faith its nice to hear it in a language I can understand.

  • Thats me....2:05 into the video!!!!

  • Good english version, but the latin version found on youtube is unmatched.

  • 100k per year? Holy Sh*t! Now yer talkin' bout some serious security!! I'm goin' atheist from now on. Thanks for the tip!

  • God bless the catholic church!

  • Very good thanks..

  • It is wonderful to see all these youth assembled together. And all those young clergy. The chant is impressive.

  • This is the voice of an angel in the presence of a future saint

  • As a Catholic, I prefer this version of the Littany than the basic chanted version. This version gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. Simply, beautiful.

  • As Christians we are asked to take a higher path. Faith isn't always easy but it is the only road which will lead us to salvation. You say that I'm the deluded soul, what do you believe in? Satan? yourself? Must be a very cold and empty existence.

  • Yeah right, long live Satan the single biggest loser of all time. You must be a scholar of sorts to have such insight into this hateful bitterness. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to spend all of eternity with the one that you worship.

  • One more thing. Chuck Norris, Captain Falcon, and Goku Sun could kick Satan's ass!

  • How dare you make stupid jokes like that. This is a beautiful video. Her voice is so beautiful.

I will pray for your soul!

  • I will pray for you. Deep down inside you are really, a very frightened, insecure person. I will pray for you and your family-you really need it. God Bless!

  • My, my, my. It seems that I have rattled you a little there Lewis! Relax. I will continue to pray for you even harder. Do you know what rattles my cage? Innocent people and children getting blown up by Terrorists. As a USN HM3, that is something worth crying over, not your ignorant words. GOD BLESS YOU. You better pray you never die!! YOU BETTER LIVE FOREVER!!

  • What's with you? ps1019 is practically praying for you, and all you're doing is throwing it back in his face! You should be on your knees begging God for forgiveness for that disgusting mouth of yours! If you have no respect for the gracious people on this video, then go soak it up with TheAmazingAtheist loser for all I care! GOOD DAY AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

  • There is no evidence of the spirit of Christ in this post. Makes a very poor advertisement for whatever it is that you believe if it has not engendered in you some measure of self-restraint.

Should not Christians speak of atheists with prayerfulness and charity, in the perpetual hope of their conversion? Speaking of unbelievers as "losers" is not something I hope I would ever do.

  • I LOVE this video! :-)

  • amazing
