By the way, it is illegal to video and or photograph on postal property unless you have permission by the public relations office of that facility or district.   • I too worked for the PO. This is not right or typical. This is a problem with tht manager. Unless you are getting bulk rate pricing, they need to take your packages if you get thee before closing, I've seen it 1000 times. People come in 2 min. before closing and need to mail 100 packages. It's inconvient and can get the PM in trouble for running into overtime, but that's an internal problem, not the customer's. Before you go to far with this, I would suggest looking up the legality of recording.

  • Try scheduling a "Pick-Up". They are supposed to pick up...he should have suggested that...guy should be reported! You should complain. Go to USPS.COM and schedule a pick up. See what happens.

Our customers keep us going and for that I'm thankful. The general population are still under the impression that federal taxes pays our wages, it does not. BUT the shipping of your packages thru us does indeed pay this jerks wages. This dude with the attitude, is what most carriers face each day, customers shouldn't!!!!!

  • I've had time issues with a regular employee too. I came in close to closing time and had to fill out a customs form. She called in another person to work the line and was rude, insulting the entire town I live (I'm actually from Ohio and I have a Bachelors degree) in front of the supervisor. I reported it to the USPS and of course did not get anymore response than the "we agree so what". The supervisor was real nice to me the next time even though she wasn't the rude one.

  • He is bragging that he is getting only a disciplinary interview and will be back in Swissvale in two weeks. In laymen's terms this means a slap on the wrist. The PO is constantly spewing that they will not condone any form of harrassment in the workplace. They also spew constantly that clerks and mgmt should never allow revenue to walk out the door. Well, the PO should back up what they spew. If he talks to customers this way imagine how he treats his employees.

  • This is the exact reason the USPS is going to fail. Seriously, help them go under by not using them at all.

    Fact: A vast majority of USPS parcels are shipped via Fed-Ex. So I suggest you just cut out the middleman and deal with Fed-Ex or UPS directly.

    You can set up a pick-up schedule for what ever you may need and the truck will come right to your house. No more need to deal with these spoiled brats in a USPS uniform.

  • @Infrared63 Glad you stated the problem...only problem is that you don't know YOUR facts. USPS delivers over 20% of both Fedex & UPS parcels. It is call the "last mile" and it is a deal by all three companies. You as a customer can not only do your postage online, you can have the Carrier notified that there is a parcel for him or her to pick-up once they get to YOUR house (BTW there is no extra charge like Fedex & UPS, and it is actually cheaper and you get free delivery confirmation as well).

  • I'm so sorry to see something like this. I'm a letter carrier myself and I still find it so hard to believe that these managers believe they can talk to their own customers like this. They're doing their part to destroy the PO. I sincerely hope you can get the word out to the press about this guy because otherwise nothing will ever be done. Postal mgt usually just move their bad supervisors around, or promote them, instead of doing anything about them.

  • He was probably too busy writing up letters of warning for carriers who missed their DOIS projections by 3 units to take in the $100 of revenue over the window (inside joke).

  • You can see all the craft employees posting their apologies on here. Sadly, this is the kind of attitude and incompetence we have to deal with on a daily basis. I am also a letter carrier and a Branch President. You continue to bring in your parcels ANYTIME during business hours and that blow hard will continue to accept them. I guarantee it. And yes, I would continue to film every time I went in, and if he refuses to take your packages then he should be fired.

  • Its funny all these postmasters preach customer service, but they are anything but that. We have lost that touch we once had with the customer, and thats not the carriers, or the clerks fault. We are the "United States Postal SERVICE" See that key word there? We are a service to the customer, and the sooner we get back into running it that way ther better we will be. There are alot of good postal workers out there that do care about the customer... our jobs depend on them, unlike the postmasters

  • As a mail carrier, I just want to apologize for the lack of service and courtesy that you experienced that day. It is the mindset of that supervisor which is the reason the USPS is losing customers everyday and along with the revenues that go with them. Management has lost the policy that we are the United States Postal SERVICE...which means we SERVE customers...even at the last second before closing time...

I too, am a postal employee and I would NEVER even think of doing something like this to a customer. Please know that not all post offices are like this.   • As an employee of the USPS I am outraged at the attitude of the window clerk and supervisor. And the customer is right. Why is there not another window clerk helping out? The USPS is short staffing clerks and letter carriers on a routine basis now and it's getting ridiculous. Customer service is truly suffering because of it.

  • You have gotten a lot of good advice, but the best is "CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN". A call from a congressman to the postmaster will can his butt.......calling the 1-800-ask-usps just puts the complaint in front of 'him'. Call the news media and give them the tape.....You do pay him, postage is what pays us.....too many people say "I pay your salary with my taxes", which is not true, but postage, YES, that does pay us.....

  • Jose2144...I do click and ship because of arrogant people like akaderka. As a business owner, I invested in click/ship hardware so that my employees and I don't have to deal with self-centered people who think the world should wait. The assimilation about a supermarket is a far reach at best. I'm not saying the MGR was correct in his delivery, but he makes a point. Why can't she adjust as others, such as I and my fellow business owners have?

  • @ranger5068 I agree, Was she needing all of those stamped? why didn't she use click and ship...it's cheaper, the PO picks it up at your house, and there is no need to buy equipment. I do mine directly from the USPS website. Easy as can be, do it yourself and the carrier picks it up. Problem averted. Rude employee should be reprimanded. Even if he is the facility manager, there is ALWAYS someone above him.

  • Hello I too am a postal worker a letter carrier in NY This supervisor is a TOTAL ASS HOLE!! this is why the USPS is going bankrupt, with mgrs like this total DIS RESPECT for our customers. we need customers like her to bring in pkgs to keep business going. i have a bay clothes store on my route they give me 10-20 pkgs a week I'll glady pick them up those pkgs are money! please report this jerk to the Postal Inspectors and also EEO I need my job but we don't need ASSHOLES like this ruining us !

  • It's easy to understand what the Manager was saying. Not that I agree with how he said it, but how is it fair for a line of people behind you to have to wait while they process your excessive number of packages. Have you looked into the pre-paid envelopes and packages? It fits, it ships? That would save you time waiting in line, and save the time of people, like me, whom are behind you. It's about providing the best service to the most amount of people...not focusing on you and you alone.

  • There are rules concerning the number of packages you can take up to the Post Office to mail because Big Businesses would close their mailrooms if they could do like this woman. Business is required to weigh and put postage on their packages. Can you imagine Exxon bringing in 5,000 packages for this small office to weigh & place postage on every day? Not practical. This woman just doesn't think the rules apply to her.

  • As a 33 year long US Postal Service employee I'm absolutely embarrassed by this. This guy ought to be fired. The USPS receives no tax revenues for operational expenses. It all comes from the customers. This jerk is totally wrong in stating your mailings don't pay for his paycheck. They sure as hell pay for mine! Too bad I wasn't at the window. You'd have gotten helped and that fool would have gotten an earfull. This video is already on a national Postal news site.

  • i'm not shocked there were only 2 people working. thats the way it usually is. but saying "dont come in here with so many packages after 330" thats REALLY lazy. If they close at 5, thats PLENTY of time. Glad you got it on video! I'll repost on facebook! I honestly hate the post office near me, its always a line and honestly nearly EVERY post office is full of unmotivated people that take breaks on a schedule, not when it's slow.

  • as a retired postal employee, i think they put they guy there like the man above stated. to get him off the floor. i have taken the post master exam and never did it state you treat a customer like that. there are a lot of upper managment that have caused the problems the post office is in right now, and its from keeping or hiring people like him.

This is no lie.....over half of the supervisors at the PO are people they had problems with as employees and made them supervisors so they could control them! Sad state of events but it is true. One of the reasons that the PO is in the state that it is in...bad management!

I am a Mailman from the Bronx, NY and I can't tell you how angry I am. 99.9% of Postal employees are honest, respectful, hardworking people. But 99.9 percent of managers and supervisors are just like this piece of shit. I would like to know where this took place. What you should do is write a letter and send a copy of the video to the District Manager. Inbox me for info.

I used to work at wal-mart back when they preached service. You were supposed to talk to every customer within 10 feet, and treat them with respect at all times. I bring that attitude to every part of my life, and apologize for this piece of shit. I hope you continue using our service, because some of of us care.

    Has anyone offered you the information on Click-N-Ship? Most info is available at USPS.com and you can order supplies there as well. You can print all your postage at home and have them pick it up there for FREE. Also, they have Flat-Rate mailing boxes you could use to save time and money, they can deliver a supply for FREE!

I WORKED FOR THEM OVER 20 YRS AGO THIS IS REALLY RIDICULOUS THIS GUY WON'T LOSE HIS JOB THEY WILL GIVE HIM EITHER A COMPARABLE JOB OR A SCALE UP FROM HIS POSITION NOW AT A DIFFERENT POST OFFICE. It is sad to say but my guess is when this hits the news you will be punching this morons ticket to be a full fledged Postmaster in a nearby town.

  • As an employee of the United States Postal Service, I'm embarrassed to be associated with the jerk in the above video. Him laughing at her when she stated that she pays him is a JOKE!! If it weren't for customers like her, none of us would get a paycheck. This is where the Postal Service has gone wrong. While working for the Post Office, I've met some of the rudest people. Sad to say, but true! Good customer service keeps people coming back. Period. This man should be terminated immediately.

  • Contact your local news station and tell them to watch this video. He is insane and you do pay his salary. I think he already knows that the post office that he works in is closing. They should be ecstatic for your business. It's not like they don't know that they are in MAJOR debt and couldn't pay their health insurance this month.   • Seek legal representation. This is the UNITED STATES postal service. It's government regulated. I'd present this tape to my lawyer and expose these practices. If you bring gyour packages in after a specified time, fine. Your' package wukk go out the next morning. But for them to tell you NOT to bring pacakges in after a certain hour - that's just wrong. Our tax dollars pay for the USPS. Seriously.... see if you can find a lawyer. If so, you'd be helping MANY people once the case hits the media.

  • Dude, that is totally fucked up. No matter if you get there at 4:59pm (not that the door will be open), they're suppose to provide you with the same service as anyone else. The office closes at 5pm, that doesn't mean they stop working at 5pm on the dot. They are fucking lazy state workers... just as bad as the DMV. Ppl need to earn that cush job, but they don't. I would continue to calmly go there even after 3:30pm and call the authorities if they say something... they are in the wrong. Sue.

If there is only one person at the window after 330 then he needs to sit his rude ass down at another window and take customers!!! Why is there only one person at the window???? Keep the vid!!! Who is his boss show them if they dont do anything show the next supervisor you should not have to go to another usps when this one is closer!
