The US tried to do that every since their ivassion of Soviet Russia failed, but was never posible due to the strenght of the USSR and it's security services (V4K, GPU, KGB), but by those years, after the death of Brezhnev, the USSR was at a weak point and I even supose, and only supose, they managed to get Gorbachyov on power and that jerkoff made the collapse achieveable
