  • One could so easily watch and listen to this maestro all day. Many thanks for posting this. Best wishes.

  • Schubert.... it is very difficult to play him that well. Richter the best at Schubert

  • my god richter can sing.... so moving

  • He is best at shubert

  • "andante"? "molto adagio?" i fear you miss the beauty of it by assuming a "right" way to play.

  • Last year I found here on youtube an interpretation of this Sonata from WILHELM KEMPFF - does anybody know, why it is no more here? It would be very interesting to compare the two visions of this work.

I admire Richter, but I love Kempff... By the way: Richter's 2nd movement : it is -pardon!- very much too slow -"Andante" and not "Molto Adagio".

  • Simply genius !

  • It is just amazing, Richter had so much to say.

  • that was the period in richter´s life where he was at the crest of his fame.

  • Heavenly played.

  • I wonder what edition he's using. He doesn't do the C#-A-E chord. Anyway, what a nice sonata as well as the pianist.

  • If you watch the opening of the piece I think you can see that he plays the c# of bar 1 with the left hand, probably in order to get a freer tone on the e of the melody. The C# is definitely played.

  • Well, I guess so.

  • Unbelievable. I´m practicing this and of course, after I saw this, I don´t want any more...

  • i think you should want more. artists inspire playing, not intimidate
