i made one of these but one for mobs and i made it exactly the same except EVERYTHING was made out of cobblestone. I built it 25 blocks high as well and i was watching your video and you were getting LOADS of animals dropping down, getting al there drops except for some reason with my mob version i get hardly any and i don't know why? :'(

dude, use a normal piston, dig under your 'ligit block' and use other dirt and push it up to where you want for it to spread, it saves you HOURS of time.

This method no longer works in 1.0.0 because of the new mob spawning algorithm. As far as this video is concerned there are two different spawn types. There are spawn points which are predefined when a new seed is generated. There are also random spawns which means friendly/passive mobs will spawn every 400 ticks or 20 seconds. Random spawns have a cap of 16 mobs in a 17x17 chunk around a player (272x272 blocks). Thumbs up so people can see this! :D

@BrenyBeast, you realize you've proven that Animal Spawning is possible for the SkyBlock challenge? If you collect every block of dirt, you have enough for: A) 12 to make a small wheat/ reed/ Melon/ Pumpkin farm, B) a spare block to grow tree on, and C) enough dirt left over to make an 8x8 plot. Yeah; ... This is great to know ;)
