  • Regency Buck is my fav!!!

  • This is a pretty corny rendition. Missing lots of details that Heyer wrote of. Someone should re-do it. No one writes like she did.

  • I've just discovered Georgette Heyer (I'm 23, how is this possible?!), and I LOVE her books so far!! She has wit, like Jane Austen, tongue-in-cheek like Mark Twain & situational comedy. I've read Frederica and Cotillion so far; I'm going to have to read all of them now, especially The Grand Sophie & Black Sheep, thanks to your comments. I thought no one could top Lord Alverton, but then Freddy came along! Grrr, why can't romance be as good in reality as we imagine it to be?

  • @BlankCanvas88

You MUST read The Grand Sophy , Arabella and Friday Child. Her best works you'll love them

  • These old shades and Black Sheep would be great as films too

  • i think the grand sophie would be awesome the monkey and that drive sophie took charles carriage down james street with old sour face! and tons else!

  • i want to see the grand sophie just think of that monkey and all the kids running after it or when sophie drove whatsherface down james street at "brek nake" speed lol itd be hilarious or in the end when whf falls for the poem guy yuck! itd b awesome!

  • i wish regency buck would be adapted to film.. wonder who will be worthy to portray Lord Worth! =)

  • am an avid reader of Georgette Heyer books............she is the mos wonderful authoress....her books were hard to get in INdia but i kept searching around. have read her books like april lady, devil's cub, friday child and more........many many times...i would love to see some bbc version of her books..........wow that would be fantastic....:) god i love these books by jane austen, georgette...brilliant...

  • Oh for a good film version of the Spanish Bride or Infamous Army, sigh.

  • I would love to see Heyer's books properly converted. Since they started publishing them again I thought they might be, but if the clause dobbie340 mentioned is unbreakable, then I guess it'll never happen. Fingers crossed the BBC find a way to do a dramatisation

  • The upsetting thing is, that after this film which Georgette Heyer saw, the author herself put some sort of clause on her books that mean they can never be adapted into fim again. All becuase of this awful film.. Sad Times.

  • OH -- SO THAT'S WHY NO OTHER FILMS BASED ON HEYER! HOW HORRIBLE! S O many of her stories are S O good! Could her heirs/publishers be pursuaded to change things? By giving much of the proceeds of a new, (good!) Heyer film, (say, "Frederika" or "Faro's Daughter"), to Ms. Heyer's favourite charities? She wrote SUCH good stories! Start w a comedy, ("April Lady"?) or 1 of t novels mentioned above, or another comedy? Her stories r 2 good not to be made into MORE films!!!!!

  • Wow, thanks for the info. I can't say that I blame her, I think if Miss Austen saw what hollywood would do to her novels she would have done the same thing.

  • @dobbie340 If that is true that is very sad.

  • @dobbie340 I'm curious, where did you find this information? It's most interesting.

  • AH! I'm only six minutes in, and there are soooo many deviations already! Thanks for finding it, miclincius, but it really is hard to want to watch a movie that has been so changed from a wonderful book by a fantastic authoress. There is no comparison for Georgette Heyer. I live for the day when one of her books - cough, The Grand Sophy, These Old Shades, Devil's Cub, cough - will be done justice in film!

  • thankuuuuu!!! :)

  • Someone should make Regency Buck, Devils Cub, and Venetia!, I am so surprised that the BBC has never made adaptations of Georgette Heyer, their is such a wealth of material, and though I love Jane Austen it has been done to death (it's death being the Keira Knightly Pride and Prejudice..WHAT A MESS AND RUINATION!)

  • I would love that too.

  • I am a young filmmaker in England, I think Heyer's a genius, I am a writier as well so Im planning to adapt a novel or two into a screenplay. :)

  • WOW! excellent, well keep me posted!

  • The only book of hers in the Public Domain so far is The Black Moth--which would be an awesome film...think of all those period costumes! Sword fights, highwaymen, kidnapping~doesn't that sound awesome? I'd love to see it!

  • @MRDEREVKO I am also amazed that they never tried either ,I really would like to see Recency Buck!

  • Very true! I wish the BBC would make an adaptation of Regency Buck, Fredrica, The Unkown Ajax and Sylvester.

  • @MRDEREVKO

Death and ruination perfectly describe what Knightley's vapid and blank acting did to the role of Elizabeth Bennett.

  • @MRDEREVKO All I want is The Taisman Ring. I've been praying for it to happen for a very long time. I love ALL her works, so anything anyone does is just great!!

  • @MRDEREVKO So true! And if they could have Andrew Davies adapt them, it would be one of the best things to ever happen! ^^

  • Thank you for posting this film. Although not that great its still good because its a Georgette Heyer!

  • I've been dying to see this for years! Thankyou so much!

  • you're wellcome :)

It wasn't easy to get it.
