"First Lady" IS a "secondary role".  Not because she has a vagina, but because of this simple fact: the First Lady is not voted into office. It is an honorary title given to the wife of the President. I doubt that Gillian would argue that the "First Man" should not play a secondary role if it were a woman President.

Eleanor Roosevelt redefined the role of the fist lady back in the 30s and 40s long before Clinton or Obama, and she also had her own career and acted as an "independant being".
