  • Why does David Garrett get an award? Test Phillipe Quint and he will blow David out of the water.

  • Very impressive. I couldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. The music itself though? An unremarkable piece of flash.

  • @CosmicDamian What we don't appreciate in another is what is unappreciated of us.

  • @mindspender I'm not sure what this means, but it sounds interesting. Would you elaborate?

  • My head felt like it was about to explode towards the end! WOW!!!

  • I did mean hear. I hate when you cannot remove these comments once posted. UGH!!! Like Charlie Brown says when he never gets to kick that football.

  • Did you here her voice and heart beat? It lives in that violin. How beautiful 0:03 and 1:25 perfection in the pitch of the note. I would love to just see it in person and take a photo of such a remarkable instrument. She is devine.

  • That's awesome

  • 4 words: I freaking love you :D

  • Why is the last chord out of tune???

  • hot

  • Most expensive violin in the world right there!!!

  • Im in love...his talent is undescribable.

  • ur good

  • is this the worlds most expensive violin?

  • @Grundalizer nope

  • VIRTUOSISMO

  • how skilled would you say you have to be at violin to do this song? like college level or better? you couldnt do this at a slower tempo as a highschool student could you? and where would you get the music?

  • @wadoryu2u Very skilled. There are high schoolers who can play like this and there are many conservatory violinists who can't. It comes down to skill, not age. You buy the music. For instance, a slightly altered (but almost identical) version of this is the last movement of "the red violin caprices" which is available for purchase.

  • toca precioso, hermoso

  • He´s playing the most expensive musical instrument in history. It´s an "del Gesù" and the auction went $18 million........

  • Skillful..

  • I don't care what people with a "musical ear" have to say about his performance. I like it as it is.

  • I have the music sheet and I can't find what he plays at the very beginning ! Can someone help me ? :)

  • this song is one that if not played like completely correctly, sounds like crap. this guy does pretty good.

  • He is very nice and talented.

  • I heard him playing this piece today, it's absolutely PERFECT.

  • @HelenSoultanianInc ohhhhhh maan ,

    i found you .

    creepin' .

  • Hope he stops leaving his 4 million dollar violin in the cab...I would of keep it...LOL

  • now thats true talent!!

  • what 2nd. rate circus work

  • Look!! He recalled picking up the violin! ... thankfully this time he has not lost ....

    hahahaah

  • If you don't play this correctly, you'll have a red violin... It'll be bleeding. o.o.

  • es impresionante musica para mis oidos

  • Oh gosh, I'm learning this on saxophone and it is ridiculously difficult, my fingers explode halfway through practicing.

  • @IntoAnother515 Saxophone? Add a vid when you're done practicing. It seems to be interesting.

  • Beautiful. Very clean. I liked this a lot.

  • Its very nice indeed. Incredible! I dream about playing like this someday.

But you guys either are fanboys or dont have any sort of "musician ear" or gift.

It wa very clear this performance had many many gaps between many hard passages. It was very easy to see how this player made pauses while switching his hands in the different positions. It didnt just took out the rythm, but made the piece weird. In the end this was the most clear. He couldnt do it like Bell played.

  • @tbm25 And you have a "gift" or sort of "musician's ear"? You clearly do not. Those "gaps" aren't added on accident or to aid in playing this piece. This is a solo pieace therefore it does not matter if it is taken out of rythm. He could easily play it like Bell but he made it his own. I'm working on this piece with only 5 years of experience btw. you clearly are a Bell "fanboy". Also, learn to spell and use correct punctuation, etc.

  • @ViolinistTB Yes, my ears are outstanding and I have the gift, indeed. But one does not need any gift to see the obvious in his interpretation. Yes, your argument is not entirely wrong, solo pieces, personal way to feel, personal way to play... sure. But, as I said, what is quite obvious is that he changes the durations of the notes according to dificulty. He plays fast in easy parts and he clearly slows down, even adding no existent "pauses", in dificult parts.

  • If theres one fanboy here... I suspect its you... or maybe worse, maybe you fail to see the obvious cuz you lack talent.

Im inclined to believe in that suposition cuz you spoke about my english (wich is just one of the languages I speak)

So, probably your another dumb who has no talent and play the violin to pose as a musician...

    I feel sorry for you.

    Farewell.

  • How many notes per sec??? Impressive!

  • le sale mejor a joshua bell

  • Bravo! It wore me out just watching.

  • i got to play in a materclass with him it was amazing!

  • Wow...you rarely hear a live version of this masterful piece. He did that as perfectly as Joshua Bell on the soundtrack.

  • AWESOME

  • @jsndms123 He added that 4-string pizzicato at the very end, it's not in the original sheet music. As a violinist, I hope I can be as good as him very soon. I'm confident I can.

  • So amazing I have to watch it over and over again. But at the same time it is too amazing to watch even a single time. xD FANTASTIC!!!

  • Wonderful...

  • Wow

  • Beautiful! Thank you, Scardinal

  • i saw him play with WYSO...he was incredible

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE LAST NOTE WAS AWESOME.

  • Я просто апплодирую стоя!!! You are the One!!!

  • his hair looks soft lol ~~~ kinda random right :)

  • That violin has an incredible sound!

  • perfect

  • Nice performance!

  • His hair is GORGEOUS, I wish I had great hair like him!

  • i just saw him play the entire red violin concerto in concert, like an hour ago. He was playing a stradivarius, and yes, He kicked ass.

  • ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE

I think he added that 4-string pizzicato at the very end, though. I didn't see it in the original Red Violin performance played by that red-headed guy.

  • WOW!!! Do you know how long it would take me to get this good on the violin??

  • @zucchini2007 - a long-ass time, and depending on how old you are when you start, possibly never.

  • .THIS IS METALL!!!!

  • Excellent performance of a superfluous and gaudy composition.

  • My son is learning this song! He is only 15!

  • 90123901 milion points - YOU ROCK

  • You ROCK!

  • lolol they marked my comment as spam and i just wanted to help :S

  • @Nicolasduca chamberhyms by ben chan ??

  • yes

  • Que bien toca \(^o^)/

    eso es brujería jejeje

  • Sounds like a Stradivarius to me

  • @MissGiselaLee

Well it is a Stradivarius. I read in a magazine that he uses only Stradivarius. I'm 97.999% sure it is. :)

  • @MrDrProfDeltaco in 2004 i learned it was a stradivarius which he borrows from a private collection in US, i dont know if its the same violin but it's indeed a stradivarius.

  • Damn! man, very nice indeed, bastante bueno (y)

  • Incredible awesome !!

    Great vid !!

  • I want to play this song for my solo!!! ^^ im gonna fail...lol

  • @lolturtle13 judging on how you called it a song and not a piece you are going to fail

  • @Vesivian It is a common mistake for many people to call all music "songs" even though there is no singing involved. I eventually realized that over the course of the year since I posted this. It has no correlation to playing ability however -_-. In the end I dropped this piece. It was too far ahead of my current playing ability. I am working on the Bruch violin concerto now and it is going very well and I will not fail that piece. Thank you troll. ^^

  • Bastante bueno ^_-

  • bravo .

  • anyone know the name of the piece ? I know it's set in the scene " pope's concert " but still unable to find the name

  • It is the last variation of John Corigliano's Red Violin Caprices. (im pretty sure thats how u spell his last name)

  • @wrenbin I have this track, Joshua Bell - III. Oxford, Pope's Concert.mp3 (by Philharmonia Orchestra)

  • thanks , but do you know where to buy the score ? a web link would be usefull.

  • thanks

  • @Nicolasduca

yea... but the transcription has a lot of mistakes :P

  • @wrenbin In the red violin caprices book, it is "Variation V - Presto, Pesante." But, the sound track has it labeled as Pope's Concert, so I'm assuming that's the title Corigliano gave it.

  • Thank you... i just ordered the book ^^

  • mis oidos y mente agradecen por esta musica... awesome!!

  • the part 1:07 is to hard for me!! i cnt play it T_T

  • Honestly from my sight of view is the easiest part from this solo... I will record this piece very soon... I havent played it for 5 years so I will start practicing again and post it... if you need any help my friend Im at your service ^_^

  • btw... that last part I preffer to use saltellato.

  • wow

  • Saw him live and he was absolutely BREATH TAKING.

    A wonderfully nice guy too.

  • Excelente!!! Maravilloso!!!

  • You are amazing! and goodlooking too! Wow...wow...wow... I am speechless...L.

  • wowowowow Felicitaciones

  • oustanding!

  • Wow, I have this movie (red violin) but it's been ages since I"ve watched it. that was amazing

  • bravo !

  • I don't mean to be cynical but some may find that to be a compliment, or a triple insult. But I kid, Bell is good.

  • I totally agree. Bell puts so much more emotion in every note he plays.

  • !!! :O There are no words to describe this :D it's absolutely wonderful!!!!

  • ! You are Amazing !

  • This is absolutely amazing.

  • I wish I could do that!

  • Wonderful!

  • i love this movie, and the music is outstanding. phillipe is fantastic!!!

  • There are no more words to say how good he played this piece!!!

Even better than in the film!!!

  • I think I'm in love :D

  • I want him. haha

  • OMG. I had no idea this existed. I played a concert with Philippe about ten years ago and he was outstanding then. And an insanely nice guy too. His master class was one of the best I've ever participated in.

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • A-MA-ZING!

  • madre mia!!! esto esta cabron..

  • Better than Joshua Bell himself.

I´d love to have a look at the score of this amazing piece

  • phantom regiment is playing this next year.

  • Holy F. if only i was half as good as that...

  • I cant believe that anyone is capable of playing this...but, thanks god, there are some..:-)

  • And its incredible how there are some poeple that say "Edwin Marton is the best in the world", "Vanessa mae is the best" "Andre Rieu is the king of violin".

Damn, they 3 are good, but they are very far from people like Quint, Rieu King of violin?? LOL. Marton best violinist ever? LMAO

Quint, Perlman, Repin, they are real kings of violin today.

  • anyone who says vanessa mae is the best surely doesn't know too much about the violin

  • @narnia1232000 I would say the top 6 violinists of all time are:

    1. Jascha Heifetz

    2. David Oistrakh

    3. Itzhak Perlman

    4. Rachel Barton Pine(just go listen to her "Happy Birthday Violin Variations", it's her own original composition)

    5. Shlomo Mintz

    6. Ida Haendel

I would have included Paganini and Vivaldi, but none of us were there hundreds of years ago when they were alive. I'm a huge fan of Rachel, she's a total rock star on the violin!!

  • @narnia1232000 vanessa mae got only technique not feeling!

  • @narnia1232000 Well she is a great violinist still though.

  • what is the name of this master piece

  • So I got the sheet music to this and decided to play. Um... yeah. I sounded like a cat being mauled by a tractor. This guy is so freaking good. A hundred kudos to him!

  • Spectacular!!!

  • Bravo!!!

even the last pizz makes me can't breath

  • I saw him in mexico city like 10 years ago with the philarmonic in la unam and it was amazing!!! congratulations

  • amazing,

  • THAT WAS A MASTER PLAY...

  • an orgasm in my ears

  • tha ts exactly what my girlfriend said wierd

  • if you watch the movie its supposed to be an orgasm set to music ;]

  • OMG. Awe some.

  • Well done!!!

  • ...O.O........O.O

    WOW! im...speachless

  • Yeah. It's available. My Concservatory has the parts for this concerto. When Corigliano is clean, it is just that much more amazing.

  • i don't think there is any sheet music. check ebay or something. but i highly doubt you could play it. but mabe you can. i saw him play this at a master class. he is amazing and a cool guy.

  • anyone know of any sheet music for this :)

  • If you can play this you don't need sheet music.

  • I think for the context, it's too clean. Bell's is better.

  • really amazing. better than bell :)

  • Wooooww! absolutely amazing!

  • awesome

  • Wooow!..exellent interpretation...i hope i will play it once...i searched it...since a year

  • Absolutely fantastic. This is everything this piece should be and more.
