@divinemoon16 I don't know what you mean. The blue is the hottest part of the flame, so you hold it there in order to heat it. Stainless steel will not turn black from heat. The reason that things (including metal) that do not catch fire turn black in many sorts of fire is that it is smoke/soot. Butane flames don't have that sort of byproduct, so won't turn anything black unless it's due to charring (and metal doesn't char).

Electrocautery tools are not as hot as red hot stainless steel. Electrocautery brands make a shallower burn which in many people heals over after a few years. Also due to the lower temperature it's more painful.
