its okay to rev a car in the winter as long as its 5w30. if its 10 or thicker, it's probably not such a good idea. normally, cars will rev up to 1500 anyway when first started until the thermo opens up at operating temp. i'm fairly certain this car already uses an electric fan and i don't need to look in the engine bay to know there's no room for a crank driven one. as well as the fact that its mounted transverse for fwd (lol @snakes). the real problem might be your water level.
It is much better for the car and it will warm up much faster to start it, let it idle for a minute, and then start driving (go easy on it) until it warms up. The longer it takes for the engine to reach operating temp = more wear on it. But, on the other hand, a heavy load/high RPM are not good either...
if you rev it while cold u cause wear n tear on the engine n might have engine trouble later on let it warm up to normal operation temperature then rev it never cold
Never rev it when the motor is cold unless you want to tear up the motor real well. When it's cold the oil is thicker and doesn't lubricate as well so you want the engine to run at it's slowest possible speed, or idle, until it's warmed up. When it's warm outside like 50 F or higher i'll wait about 2 minutes so the oil will be warmed up and it'll have full oil pressure, when it's cold I always let my car idle for at least 5 minutes, the Metro likes longer since it doesn't warm up very fast.
If you want the car to warm up as fast as possilble, install an electric fan and use an engine block heater. After 5 minutes it'll be at full operating temp and you're ready to roll, but drive slow for about 5 minutes so the tranny can warm up.
Activate captions...lol.. :-D
