she really pisses me off, how come she gets such an amazing voice and such a bright personality. seriously though jessie is really great :) i just wana no where the curls went in this performance :p i love her hair normally
This girl is amazing. She has an emotional connection with every song she sings so that you believe her every word. I hope she has an amazing career. She belongs on a stage.

Ouch, didnt expect the backlash. Yeah, I did prefer Jodie from the beginning so I guess I'm biased anyway. "Pirate Jessie" I got from digital spy cause I thought it was hilarious, though I do know a pirate beleive it or not. At least he beleives it :) I watched all Jessie's performances, probably liked "One night only" the best, wasn't a fan of her "Scrumptious", I maintain I think she's still quite stiff in performing, but I accept she'll get better later. Harsh to get personal about it Foxy.
If you prefer watching someone lumbering around singing cabaret numbers with very basic emotional interpretation, who comes on in the middle of a showpiece and addresses the audience in a broad Lancs accent, completely out of character, that's your opinion. We don't share it. We love our wild Irish filly, who lives what she sings. If I remember right Christine is pretty much in a trance for this song. Try my "Rain" or Derrers1 "TL01" if you want a bit more movement.
It was never her singing that made me root against her in the show, I always thought she was a great singer. Its her body language! Pirate Jessie she was, staggering about, singing out the corner of her mouth. She could never move comfortably, I found watching her distracting, and detracting from the performance. She works here cause she stands absolutley still, and she still looks stiff as a board, holding her arm that way. And she doesnt know what to do with her fingers. Shame really.
I assume you were watching ITV whilst the IDA Final was on and missed "Scrumptious". Her tomboy style was more suited to the character of the Dicken's Nancy than lumbering around. As for singing out of the corner of her mouth - another anti Jessie myth, maybe in the first song she did a bit, after that it was hardly noticeable. She'll soon learn more about arm and hand use - a concert's different from a show. They had about 5 minutes to rehearse. Given that I don't think it was a bad effort!!
At least you acknowledge that she's a great singer. She's really an MT actor, not just a singer. There's not much movement to be had in this particular number anyway-wait until you see her in character in a proper show not just a concert. You'll then see just how fantastic Jessie is.If you really want to see someone sing out of the corner of her mouth - take a look at Barbra Streisand (Who I admire BTW).Doesn't seem to have done her any harm! Just out of interest - how many pirates do you know?!!!
Ditto the great Bryn Terfel, Derrers. I always felt she used the side of the mouth because the mike was there. Oh and there's a big difference having to hold a mike rather than having one attached. I assume Deava thought that Jodie's king penguin movements were better suited.
So very sad. Isn't it better to be remain silent and be thought foolish. You have put your thoughts into writing and removed all possible doubt. As someone else has said, you must have been watching ITV last Spring.
I could still listen to this over and over without getting bored. Her talent is unreal!

Maybe he wasn't trying to be either. It is a concert not a Musical and that is the way he sings!

Her high vocals need a little work, unless she is a mezzo. In that case she should do mezzo roles.

So do yours also though. I think Jessie was wonderful, her voice can only get better as she matures.

wow, that was such a powerful performance. It really blew me away.
& at the end I think he says "Jessie asked me on 'cos she feels Sean didn't do merit to the duet, do you agree?"

As for this song, it just blew us away live.
