  • these type of units had amplifiers that produced 5 to 12 watts per channel RMS with a lot of total harmonic distortion and your praising it?

  • people, you cannot expect great hi-fi sound from this type of unit. For starters the turntable has a lot of wow, fluttter and rumble. Secondly, this most likely produces low watts RMS per channel that it's built in amplifier wont be able to drive sophisticated loud speakers, thirdly the amplifier has a lot of total harmonic distortion. And dont get me started on the radio and 8 track. Just because its vintage dont mean it's better most units today.

  • may be vintage but the sound is not accurate, not even since the day it was made. Sorry bub.

  • were can i buy one for my shack ???? i got the toilets instaled last week yaaaaaa im gonna party like its 1979 \o/

  • Panasonic

  • record player is worked?

  • i would rather have this than an iPod

  • @mapplestore1 even an ipod with its compressed sound would sound better than this.

  • That is awesome.

  • What song was playing at the beginning of the video? Who was the artist?

  • @WereWolfDan1991 Peter Frampton - "Won't You Be My Friend"

  • My mom came home from work one day in the mid 70's. She said, "We're having a sale on electronics at work, what would you like me to buy for you?" We asked for a stereo system. She came home with a Panasonic Quadraphonic system with 8 track. It was great. One problem. It would play regular 8 tracks, but the quad records and tapes wouldn't play right on a stereo. Some of the tracks would be silent. We had great times listening to records and tapes on it.

  • sweet stereo !

  • They aren't as pretty nowdays as they used to be

  • stupid faggot, stop changing the station/song!

  • Sounds very nice! People always say CD's and MP3's are better than 8-tracks,but I have a few that sound way better than the CD versions.I like vinyl a bit better but 8-tracks are'nt that bad. Just got Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music today in Quad too. :)

  • @bunnygal079 i have that too . . . on vinyl! ironically i lack the equipment to play it. i suppose you win haha

  • So do you own an audio equipment store, or are you like I used to be? A total PSYCHO for record players, like most men are for CARS! I used to fix record players and almost restore them like they were vintage Cadillacs. I used to love watching a stack of 45's play 1 by 1 via the changer. Then I started finding units with a 45 adapter that was shaped like a backwards"Z" so that you could only put on 4 or records before the slant would make it uneven... wait, what?

  • atomic dog at the end!

  • Great, where do I put my Ipod?

  • @kdixon7783c in ur ass

  • I can smell the overheated tubes from just watching the video.

  • @hankaaron1961 hm... this unit would be solid state.

  • @wilkes85 That unit could be real estate

  • That unit could be real estate

  • Is the first song by Peter Frampton and if so what is the title of that first track that was playing?

  • Antique? this looks like a hundred times better than whats on the shelves nowadays!

  • @Dreambro1 and could out play any modern system out today lol

  • @Dreambro1 agreed

  • @Dreambro1 you know nothing about high end hi-fi.

  • Ugly with plastic sound................

  • hey, im a bit of an audio virgin...does this play the cd-4s or quadradiscs?

  • hi there. Do you still have this unit? or do you know some one you know with this one? I am very interested in buying it.

  • on sale in Russia or would this be Alabama some where?

  • Im 50 now, as I recall unless you could afford expensive separate components-(most of us teens definitely couldnt) - one of these was as good as it got. The quality on these combo units varied widely, some were surprisingly good for the money, and some were just plain junk. One of the best from this bunch was a Zenith "Allegro" with the wedge shaped table top console, these really sounded good for the money, had some very decent speakers - about 50 watts per channel - sold for around $400.00

  • remember in the sixties and seventies all the stereo shops.

  • fantastic .. I have to get one of these old systems. Great thing is you can get them for next to nothing

  • These were the shit when I was a kid...they were common to have a turntable , tuner and 8 track (kater cassette)...and came with two speaker....sold in all the major dept stors and were in every teens bedroom in the 70's and early 80's

  • I have the allegro wedge for sale...still in excellant condition...used for jsut a couple years then all but in storage since. gonna find a 8 track tape somewhere to make sure it's still workin

  • yeah,, u can,, everyone is sold on the DVD Digital hype,, and they both suck! just call it Digital,, and its SOLD!,,, Digital sucks doggy dick!

  • now that is stinless steel

  • What brand/model stereo is that?

  • I had one of these back in the day.

  • WHOAAA! really, REALLY nice unit. Very bulky looking unit, but it has quality written all over it.
