  • not the dubbed version!

  • Infinite ammo unlocked: Bullet time unlocked:

  • I love John Woo movies cuz he directs really great action scenes! I just saw a great doc that talked about the best Asian action movies called “Films of Fury”. It just came out on demand and had some really great scenes from John Woo movies and a bunch of other great films!

    bitly .com/uBGPir

  • Mind blowingly badass

  • 1980s john woo films rule

  • is it me or was the english dubbing shit in this

  • 3 shots in the gut at point blank range murder yeah

  • I think Chow yun-fat is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills the whole population of Hongkong and doesnt afraid of anything.

  • god mode ON no clip ON infinite dead eye ON iron lungs ON shotgun explosive rounds ON :P

  • @bigfishy14

    M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!!! GOD LIKE!!!!!

Seriously... the gunfights in Hardboiled is what Time Crisis should have been.

Btw, what in the wide world of sports does an iron lung cheat do?

  • this hostages have the same reaction to a shootout as a bunch of white kids at Imax :P

  • John woo also made the movie Broken arrow with john travolta

  • Virtual Cop!

  • My favorite part. When it only took one wink for everyone to be on the same page. Epic.

  • what the hell happened at 0:55? i dont get it

  • @OleScrubby

Tony Leung's character killed the gang member dressed as a security guard in the 3-way standoff. He then got into the uniform to pretend that he was gang member. He pretended to use Chow Yun Fat as a hostage.

  • got a chance to see the directors cut of this film at the Cinema Village in New York many years ago... it was about ten times more violent than this, if you can believe it.

Does anyone know if the Directors cut exists on DVD anywhere?

  • Surprisingly good dub.

  • I used to dislike this movie when I was younger and thought it was too cheese but once I developed half a brain I could almost fully comprehend its fucking awesomeness. It really does have some of the best choreography as far as shootouts go.

  • Unrealistic but awesome.

  • This is straight-up gun porn!

  • Wow that continuous shot must have taken quite a lot of takes! Looks awesome!

  • I never saw the movie in English... Now I'm glad.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • I love this movie when the short Good guy asked, You mean guy I shot was really a cop? The tall Good guy said Yeah. The short Good guy says F#$%! is classic.

  • awesome film ...i prefer it with the subtitles in original language for the audio.

  • Best Film Ever. It's Genius!

  • badass classic bulletfest

  • this is like the game goldeneye. this movie shoots from the start to the finish. they need to make more movies with woo style

  • I can't believe how much this movie rules.

  • Ugh the dub is horrible. Subs are so much better

  • this movie was so damn good, a real achievment for the time it was made. and that last part of this vid, all in one take. simply amazing

  • STRANGLEHOLD ! i didnt knw dis waz da movie 4 da game.

  • Can someone upload the Scene where he saves the baby and jumps down while the hospital explodes..

That was one of my favourite HK action movie scenes.

  • reminds of die hard , but in a hospital

  • The reason John Woo never did that well in the US (except for maybe Face-Off) is that he had to tone things down for our sensibilities. The countless murders of civilians and the cops actually making things worse wouldn't have flown around here.

  • *sigh* back in the day when jon-woo kept it real...

  • At least he redeamed himself with Red Cliff, that was the best Chinese war movie I have ever seen!

  • in the warehouse scene there is an outstanding, heroic reload scene of a shotgun by chow. this movie is a revelation for the modern comprehension of action movies.

  • i saw this above 15 years ago in the late ight programm on vox a german channel. At this time they werent so fury about cutting the movies. Today this movie would be cut in half for its explicit scenes. This was the birth birth of akimbo style shooting - one beretta in each hand - a total masterpiece. For the younger visitors, the game stranglehold is the inheritor of this famous movie. The sequel.

  • I just watched this film for the first time. The hospital scene was crazy.

I have to watch this film again sometime. WITH someone. I love it

  • que efectos de sonido tan malos

  • The dubbed version makes my ears bleed!

  • Chow Yun Fatt has greater magic powers than any wizard from Lord of the Rings...

If he touches a gun, no matter what type of gun it is, it'll be blessed with infinite ammo capacity, extreme, deadly accuracy, and the ability to inflict MAXIMUM pain on whomever shot...

  • 0:40 and 5:53 my favorite parts xD

  • It's the first time i ever see anything from this movie. gotta check out some more, and just one thing:

how could he not get hit by just 1 bullet at 5:57? hilarious

  • i hate the dubbed version

  • wow the english version

  • The hallway scene, its like something out of Time Crisis!

  • I know. If they ever make a Time Crisis movie, I want John Woo to be the Director and screw if the game is rated T, make the movie rated R with bunch of shoot-out and a lot of blood. The Time Crisis movie could be a spiritual sequel to hard boiled even though Stranglehold is the video game sequel to the movie. But a time Crisis movie with John Woo Directing would be badass.

  • people just keep on coming lool anyway great movie

  • FREAKING BOOMSTICK !!!!!!

  • This movie is fucking awesome!

  • the shot gun's a farkin cannon

  • 2:47. Dude got fucked up.

  • Awesome action - almost 4 min. without a camera. This is the way movies should be, i hate too many camera cuts !

  • 0:41 haaaaa ha HEADSHOT!!

  • man that shotgun sound is BADASS

  • and good guys never missed a shot!

  • lol I feel sorry for the guy at 2:35, he gets shotgunned twice lol

  • I think that's the same shotgun blast from two angles!

  • Yeah well fuck him! He's obviously an asshole! LOL! Please give me a thumbs up if you think the dubbing on this is nothing short of terrible! (Still a quality film though!)

  • I know you're asking yourself, the bad guy near the end is firing the M16A1 with the M203. Why doesn't he just use the M203 instead of throwing a grenade? I'll tell you why, the movie is too badass and he's too manly just to pull the trigger and fire a 40 mm HE grenade right into the room. He has to be a true bad guy and savor every moment that he has to kill Taquila with pleasure, damn that's a good movie!

  • @randomclam898889 thanks man, you just answered a question i asked myself since the first time i watched this movie. thanks a lot.

  • Absolutely SICK!!! XD

    God Shotgun!!

  • i laugh whenever chow fires the shotgun

  • I want that gun. It instantly launches anyone it hits 10 feet through the air.

  • and the sound it makes. sounds like artilleri fire

  • DAMN finally found dat movie... i knew there was a movie dat was jus like Stranglehold but didnt kno what it was called...

    gotta watch da whole film...

  • sames

  • chow yun fat is essentially an Asian Clint Eastwood

  • Hard Boiled is still the greatest movie I have ever seen.

  • DUDE! you left out the fight between mad dog and tony - the best bit in the whole film

  • Yeah, that scene did kick ass. I can't seem to find it anywhere on youtube.

  • these are not the original sound effects right?

  • No, this seems to be from the dubbed version which tweaked all the sound for the worst.

  • lol talk about having unlimited amo

  • I bet you Michael Mann would disagree with you

  • the only joke is you

  • Amazing action scene. I love how Yun-Fat keeps killing two or more people with one shotgun blast. Shows you really can kill 2 birds with one stone lol.

  • or 2 birds with one throw of a lot of very small stones

  • Bloody hell the dubbed version sucks...

  • John Woo is God since Micheal Bay directed any action movies like "Bad Boys"

and Transformers, his movies is like a shot of adrenaline, and "Tequlia."

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best films ever made!

  • Movie kicks SO MUCH ASS.

  • John Woo is a big fan of Sam Peckinpah.

  • jesus don't they ever have to reload?

  • That's not a shotgun, it's an anti-aircraft cannon! @_@

  • Yep, Woo loves that effect with shotguns, and i love it too D:

  • @marceloscherer , You'll raise hell!

  • Damm, john woo must love gun fights.

  • This is like watching a videogame. It's no suprise that they made Stranglehold.

  • awesome movie

  • i thought hong kong has strict British gun laws

  • corrupt security guards

  • These guys are god....it would be awesome if they came together and made another action film!

  • Imagine a Hollywood flick with a huge budget, with all the cool S/X stuff like in a movie like Bad Boys 2. but directed by John Woo in his classic HK style not like his new movies with Chow and some other guys from his old movies! It would be good cause Americans for the most part cant tell a good movie if they see one, and this would be SO much better the the shit coming out of Hollywood these days. It would definally open their eyes too Woo's classic movies and maybe other HK films

  • sweet scene but i was confused. why were the guys who were wearing police uniforms and caps the bad guys.

  • they were crooked

  • "was the guy i shot really a cop?"

    "yeah"

    "fuck!"

  • @ATIrulesThe Best Line the movie...Classic.

  • Best shotgun ever!!!

  • bad ass scene ever this movie should have an oscar

  • Great work with the Mossberg!

  • They sure enjoy shooting civilians in this movie.

  • One Of The Greatest Movies Of All Time, They Don't Make Them Like That Anymore...

  • aint it the truth

  • did anyone else notice that around 3:34 they start using the same music used in Predator 2?

  • this movie simply pwns

  • Just incredible!

  • are they using Beretta m9s at the beginning?

  • 4:09 would of been a rofl if he shot him in the crotch and he made the same face LOL

  • this is a kick ass movie, Honk kong movies are great pop corn movies. Love the shot gun, the sound is wicked

  • Cant help but watch this again and again. The pump action shot gun is a real room cleaner in and enclosed area. Frightening but effective piece of weaponry.

  • Lol....its like watching cockroaches being killed as they move floor to floor and room to room. Love the elevator scene when he buddy is cracking up over the idea he shot one of their own. Chow Yun Fat is just so sympathetic.

  • This place seems to be staffed by 120 doctors and nurses and about 400 gangsters?

  • Whats the big deal? I work in a hospital and this is what happens every Friday night. But we have some top cleaning staff so alls usually well be Saturday morning shift.

  • fark! Is that a M60 @ 5.10? HOLY KRAP!

  • This is fucking unbelievable. It's like something you would only see in a video game. It would be a real trash action flick (Golan-Globus erhmm...) if it didn't have this much style! John Woo-hoo

  • ROFL at 3:13... the guy got shot THEN leaped out the window.

  • I hate dubtitles, why not post it with subtitles?

  • the body count is over 9000!!!!

  • over 300

  • The best first person shooter ever! But with real dudes.

  • WHATS THE BODYCOUNT IN THIS MOVIE? :))

  • Pretty high. I read a magazine recently where they supposedly listed the top ten highest body count films. But this was nowhere to be seen, but I actually think they only listed newish films.

  • About 240. It may have the most onscreen deaths in any film -- only Rambo 4 rivals it with an alleged 260.

  • the body count is 307 lool thats ridiculous, when i first saw this film i thought it was going to be a buddy cop film like lethal weapon or rushour ,not some hail to bullets body harvest

  • You are correct! So it looks like this one still holds the record. I think Woo has made better films, but I won't hesitate to call the hospital shootout the greatest action scene in movie history.

  • there is a film by john woo called bullet to the head its apparently his best film and also has one of the highest body counts in film history but not close to this one. Also there are some great films similar like equilibrium which is awesome and shoot em up which is superb

  • it's called heroic bloodshed (cop kills 3000+ people in the name of the law)

  • Before it was Rush Hour, it was HARD BOILED!

  • How can you even compare Hard Boiled to fucking Rush Hour? Because Rush Hour has an asian guy in it?

  • Cuz i can, Plus, Chow Yun Fat IZ Asian, its dat Asian persuasion BABY!!!!

  • douche chillllll

  • rush hours action coemdy with hand to hand combat this is heroic bloodshed theres nothing in common the only thing in common is the bad guys r triads

  • No its cuz they are both about COPS!

  • Rush Hour had Chris Tucker. Lame!

  • once i get into directing, this is the stuff i'd do

  • BEST SCENE!!!!!

  • Amazing action :)

  • this is real action. not like the computer animated shit nowadays

  • put a shotgun in tequila hands. and he is GOD!

  • DAMNNN. is that a shotgun or a bazooka

  • I love the uncut sequence about half-way through.

  • Thats the best action scene in the history of movies. I remember the first time I watched this movie, my mouth was wide open after that sequence.

  • BEST. SHOOTOUT. EVER!

  • If I were a bad guy, my name would be Mad Dog too.

  • Classic ! the real time scene was done perfectly.

  • Bad ass!

  • I wached this film 500 times, and I will wach it again...because there is a lot of action like no any another film...too bad that Stranglehold is too short.

  • Starting at just past the 3 minute mark as they burst through the double doors is the infamous 2.47 section where the whole bit is filmed in one, holy shit take (no lie it is made in one take check wikipedia for further info)

  • You can totally tell it took one take, since theres no switching of cameras during that whole part.

  • they made this film and threw the mold away, has never been beaten for pure action and body count FACT

  • was the guy i shot really a cop?

    yes!

    FUCK!

  • always a crazy asian with a BIG gun at the end... like a boss battle in games

  • i have the movie ( not the remasterd verison) this is some good shit hardest gun fight ever

  • I like the screen angle as they clear the hospital. It's like one of those pc shooters. They need to make a game like this with CO-OP.

  • ..Atleast they're in a hospital...o.o

  • 2:07 he takes out three guys with one round.. thats what i love about Hard Boiled.. more ass kicking then all Arnold movies combined.

  • A true action movie. Guns with almost unlimited ammo, check. Badass heroes going through firefights virtually unhurt, check. Nameless Henchmen coming out of the woodwork, check. They just don't make them like this anymore.

  • I love how Tequila busted his ass about "hallucinating" that the guy he killed was a cop. Then later the guy asks him straight up, "Was the guy I killed really a cop?" "Yeah." "FUCK!"LMFAO

  • greatest action film ever made

  • agree!

  • I think Tequila still fires more rounds than that shotgun can hold. A shotgun like that usually has a eight shot capacity (which is confirmed by the amount Tequila loads in the elevator).

  • the real question is, does it matter??

  • I love the long extended scenes!

  • Does this movie have any scenes that they doesn't shoot anyone! Looked awesome! This movie puts holes on you!!!

  • omfg its a movie......... lol

  • jesus christ what a intro

  • LOL they shot there own friend down...yet..that pretty sad too think of it..

  • I wish a stranglehold sequel would have co op segments like this

  • I swear the bit where Tequila is loading shells into the shotgun must be the ONLY time he ever reloads his weapon in the movie. But then again shotguns are really cool to watch being reloaded .

  • I dont know why but this scene reminds me of True Crimes Streets of LA the game where the main charecter is at the bank shooting.

  • gotta love shotguns

  • some parts of the filmmusic sound like "Predator" (3:22)
