  • well said, its all good, as long as poeple enjoy the music,

  • the video is presented as a lesson, not as 'a guy having fun with it', which he undeniably is. Perhaps he shouldn't present himself as a teacher then. But please, be as happy as you want.

  • Try listening to bands like , tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, Tipica 73, Ray Barretto, Ive learned from them,

  • thanks for sharing brother, I am a proffesional guiro player, one thing if I may, The guiro is primarilay a percussion instrument it keeps time, like a CLOCK, its not usually used as a solo instrument only maybe in Puerto Rican Jibaro music but only in the right context, If you just keep time straight and not deviate you'll see what I mean.If I did what your doing on stage I would be fired very quickly, That being said you picked it up pretty fast, keep it up

  • Thanks a lot for the comment, I can do something withthat. This video was recorded more for fun (sorry if I made a fool out of myself and with that the guiro). Thanks

  • Thanks, Ill keep the comment in mind:)

  • er, thats what someone would do who doesn't play guiro. and since when has the guiro played the tune?? Busier than the flute! sorry, all wrong.

  • That's what I also explain in the video, that I just bought the thing. Of course now I'm waiting for guy's like you who can show the world how "the real thing" works according to you!! So please don't forget to put your video as a response to this one!! Tanks alot!!

  • so why present your video like its a lesson? you want to teach people the wrong thing? you talk about crappy perc lessons on you tube then post one yourself! Ok, and you play through all the stops with that CD so you're not even musical yourself. I won't be posting a 'teaching' video thanks, i'll leave real teaching to real teachers. Unlike you. Sorry to burst your bubble. Tanks a lot.

  • The nice thing is that youtube is a good medium to post what you can do, and maybe ppl can learn from it.. I hope you find the guiro teaching your looking for!! I really do, and ofcourse again everybody is free to learn from my video's or not, that is up to everybody themselves.

And for all ppl, please if you have a guiro teaching video that you want to record, please post it as a Video response to this video!! Thanks

  • Thank you really much, I need to you to listen a cumbia Argentina song ro respond my question. Do u have msn ? thank you again! and good video!

  • Hi, I´am learning to play the guiro, I have some douts, Can you help me? thanks

  • Sure that's why I started this channel, just tell me what you want and I might post a vido on it:)

  • Thanks again, I dig it. Your student Chris from Garden Grove CA USA

  • Hey Chris, cool men, I think this guiro is just like $20 in the states, so I expect a shout out on it;) Just let me know, I can send you the song (you only)!

  • Hi Michelle, I'm happy that I helped you to make your dicision. Bty the way, there are two variations a small one, and large one, this is the smaller version. If I can find the large version I think I'll buy it as well.

The music is taken from a learning to dance salsa cd called "beginner's guide to salsa VOL 2" it contains 3 cd's one slow medium and with fast salsa, good learning cd. Enjoy playing percussion!

  • Thanks for this -wanted to buy a guiro for ages and couldnt decide which one to buy-this looks great -will get one tomorrow! what's the music? -i love it!

    Michelle
