The author wanted to express a particular belief to the reader, and hiding it in layers of cryptic metaphor defeats the purpose; he wrote exactly what he meant. If it isn't literally true, it can be interpreted however the reader wants and it really doesn't matter what the author wrote.

This being the case, it seems completely appropriate for the producer of this video to expose the problems with the literal interpretation of these passages.
