You're; pushing to hard on on your bow, position changing is not smooth as well as too long and your bow needs rosin...

Try to be a bit more relax/gentle but other than that, AWESOME!

put more rosin on the bow, and tilt your bow so that the wood is facing the neck, and also play closer to the bridge, that helps alot. When i first played my full size it was really scratchy too, and my teacher told me to play like that and the tone got better, and the scratchy sound went away

the reason why it sounds sad is maybe because he put too much vibrato on the entire piece? I do that a lot and sometimes i wonder why it doesnt sound as good as the pros. Well, this is still nicely done.

Very nice. I play violin as well. Try to watch your bow movement. You tend to slide it up towards the fingerboard when you play. :]

I think that online stores don't really make much of a difference in what violin you're gonna purchase. However, the price of the violin does matter. If you're gonna get something fairly cheap, be aware that the violin might not be super excellent. Its like the phrase "you get what your money's worht"..good luck :)
