The main character in Water Lilies reminded me of someone SO MUCH and I finally realised it is Sara Quin from Tegan and Sara. Seriously. If Sara were younger and with longer hair they would be the same. Sara even lives in a french part of Canada. She doesn't look very much like Tegan though.

Maybe you could talk to your parents about netflix. It's way better than Blockbuster or Redbox, and it's really cheap. You can get as many movies as you want, and this one is instant so you can watch it on a Wii or ur computer. Or an iPod or something with Internet access. Ask your parents about trying it, and if they don't like it, they can always cancel their account or something.

Does ANYONE know where I can watch the movie FREE online with ENGLISH SUBTITLES????? I'm dying to watch it, I've searched online dozens of times trying to find it, and even signed up for netflix but it cost money with all the trials (I'm only 14) my parents will kill me if I spent money on the internet without their permission. Well don't generalize! After nearly 100 years of American cinema and a few million movies, there are quite a few good ones; I especially encourage you to explore the "Golden Age"-era films ("A Beautiful Mind" and "The Shawshank Redemption" were also cinematic wonders).

Pertaining to French films, I thoroughly enjoyed "Jeux d'enfants". Absolute witty, romantic dynamite.

As for RECENT American films, you're right, don't hold your breath :P

@SkorpioD1991 The problem is that people confuse American cinema with Hollywood cinema. Not everything that comes out of America is a product of Hollywood. America still has a vibrant independent scene. The only upper hand that foreign countries have on America is that most of us don't have major studio systems and so most of the stuff that comes out of our countries are made by passionate independents.

You could watch it on the Sundance channel. It has subtitles though which I really preferred. I hope you do see it somehow. It was very very good. I loved every second of it. Such a fantastic story about love and and sexuality.
